Why does it matter in any regard? If you are asking why she didn't go to Boulder Community Hospital or local police, then the answer is that people don't make the most logical choices when dealing with substantial trauma, which would make it far too personal of information to include in a news article.

But as long as you asked, I'd guess one of the following modalities may have sufficed: personal vehicle, public transportation, driven by a friend or family member, took a taxi, happened to have a horse, chartered a small plane or helicopter, hitchhiking, rode a bicycle, or she sprouted wings and flew. Whatever seems most plausible to you.

Matt and Trey could easily turn these two into, well, more of a cartoon parody than they already are.

Playing the presumptuous card, eh, quick draw?

I did ride the RTD for more than a decade all over Boulder County on mostly local buses and the occasional regional for work and errands, with and without a bicycle, and in all seasons, so no cigar there. Riding to Denver on the SKIP or DASH regularly would hurt anybody's body.

Perhaps you missed the part where I referred to the "first incarnation of the new buses", as in the design they did NOT choose to pursue? There were some approximations pictured in a DC article which showed the shallow, uncomfortable seats, a single bike rack for commutes along the corridor, and no extra space for people traveling with luggage to RTD, or just with extra items to transport.

This new one thankfully looks like they chose to "stick with" the BX design, so your snark seems woefully ill-placed.

If memory serves, the first incarnation of the new buses lacked the undercarriage storage compartment for luggage and extra bikes, and looked a lot like the regional buses with side-facing, uncomfortable seats and low suspension, hurting my derriere to just think about traveling between Denver and Boulder upon one.

This illustration seems to look like a good decision was made to stick with the taller, coach-style buses with extra storage, padded and reclining seats, and better suspension.

It's worth celebrating when common sense uncommonly rears its head!

---"It's a unique place to hang out," Cowles said. "There's Boulder Creek rushing by. This is a wonderful place and it's a place, actually, the city's invested a fair amount of money in. But, for the most part, people on the Hill aren't using that really neat path to get downtown because of their fear for their safety and what goes on there."

At midday Monday, about a dozen people — some with sleeping bags and large backpacks — were sitting under trees in a grassy area off the southeast corner of Arapahoe and Broadway.--

Really? Fear? Of what? Hacky sacks and devil sticks? Patchouli?

The national rainbow gathering is currently taking place a mere 8 hours away in neighboring Utah, and the silly kids with the goofy names have come traipsing across the country along this major thoroughfare at a time they can legally purchase their favorite mind-altering substance for the first time ever.

Basically, it's the same old waxing and waning migratory pattern of the indigenous American Hippy with an added historic kick, and thanks to the smoking ban driving them off the mall, the usual bunch of alarmists can use the occasion to hit the panic button about unwashed (or restroom-washed) masses infesting the exit of Central Park.

Come mid-July, they'll be mostly gone, most of the health food stores will have seen a minor uptick in cash and SNAP sales, and we can get back to hating on the regular band of homeless. The idea that this usual phenomenon poses some kind of greater risk or problem this summer compared to others is a ludicrous and transparent attempt to make Boulder even less weirder than it has long since become.

You must be wearing rose-tinted glasses to believe that. Numbers bear out the truth of how criminals from minority and generally poor populations consistently receive ridiculously imbalanced sentences for the same crimes committed by those from the affluent. Of course the Udalls like everyone would seek the best outcome, but if you don't believe their status gave them serious advantage over a poor black gangbanger despite not being raised with the resources of being a Udall, then those tinted glasses are actually blinders.

Glad he is ok, but considering it was his only link to communicating with rescuers (and probably used much extra power to remain connected to cell towers at such a location), seems very strange that neither he nor they thought to have him power-down his phone except for designated times of contact.

Pretty much every time I visit, I find my mother has inadvertently downloaded some crazy program or toolbar which is giving her computer conniptions. Thank heavens for system restore. At least I got her to opt out of downloading MacAfee each time Adobe Flash Player gets updated.

Some people just aren't equipped for such discernment, but it hardly means they deserve it. Be like saying that defenseless old ladies deserve their purse to be stolen because they don't carry a concealed firearm.

Whenever I get a call from an unrecognized number, even with local area codes, I go to one of these two sites and see what people are saying:

Haven't talked to a telescammer/marketer in a long time.

First off, my mother is a guilelessly trusting soul who could easily fall for it, and no, she doesn't deserve to be scammed for not being jaded and cynical.

Secondly, while the scam has obviously been an issue for some time (esp since 2010 according to your link), the point behind this article seems to be that only recently it has been targeting people in THIS area.
