After hearing comments by some Obama appointments it is clear that core Obama supporters desire destruction of the currency through massive debt. Civil unrest will accompany this. After chaos ensues they intend to reconstruct a socialist state all the while talking about the failure of capitalism. Things may get so bad during this process that the students now protesting for tuition subsidies will later be protesting for food subsidies. Regardless of intent of the Obama crowd, things are likely to become considerably worse than they now are and the protesting students will get a real education as time goes along.
Chevez is achieving his goal of making certain that the poor get even poorer than they already were and the rich end up just as poor as well. The drought is God's way of providing an assist to his effort. Now that the state owns and controls much of the economic activity, the people can (properly) blame the state for everything that goes wrong. ..maybe even some of the effects of drought since market economies provide the best way for economies to adjust for changing conditions such as a drought.

What is silly is not being sensitive to perceptions of the public when you are making political policy and public relations decisions.
