I was a hardcore marvel advocate a few years back, and even after playing Marvel: Ultimate Alliance I poked fun at the idea of Ryan Reynolds one day playing the masked jackass (who, still to this day, is one of my favorite superheroes...if anything because he's an antihero at heart). When I found out he was in the new Wolverine tragedy, I got so excited and repeatedly threw around the statement, "Called it." If I had known he would only be in maybe 10 minutes of it, and then given the ability to shoot lasers from his freaking face and spout blades from his wrists rather than wield his katanas, I would've stopped telling people how much of a "perfect" fit he was for the character (and then waited for the dvd release rather than the $8.50 movie ticket, but that's also because the movie was not worth the theater experience. i.e.: the bathroom scene that looked like his claws were digitally made by someone on youtube rather than a generally well paid special effects group). If anything, we got a taste of how he actually acted from the source material in the beginning of the film with his witty Van Wilder-esque remarks, which was actually what I was counting on the whole time. The link below keeps me hoping that one day the Deadpool character will be done right...because there's no way you can't get a kick out of the image while knowing the whole time that he IS in fact a good guy regardless.
