I'm proud of all of our fighting men and women patriots. But there does come a day when we must return to peace, and constitutionally limited federal powers. That time has come. For lo these ten years I have been in full support of our missions in the Middle East. However, what have we wrought upon ourselves far more dangerous to our liberties? TSA, Homeland Security, Wiretapping, the nearing potential of nationalization of local police authority and "superhero" status of firefighters? Of course I could go on. More and more, my mind is considering that POV. A month ago I'd have scoffed at the mere mention of it. A week ago I had an intelligent conversation with my daughter, a junior at a prestigious Catholic University on full scholarship strudying philosophy, about her interest in Ron Paul. I thought I had to "save" her from the Paulbots. I hit her hard immediately on foreign policy, of course. Very reasonably she asked me to differentiate non-interventionism (the stated FP of RP) and isolationism. Then it got fun.
I'm here to convince no one, since I've yet to be. But its funny how I've begun to notice how the major conservative media voices i.e. Levin, Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck et al, all instantly and vehemently apply the ad hominem to Paul and anyone who wants to reasonably discuss his policy positions that call in to their shows.
Aren't those the tactics of the left? That gets my attention. I believe it should get yours also, while we're still in the primaries. This is a moment in history I'd rather look back upon as the beginning of the end of the progs. The dismantling of "Leviathon". The destruction of the ring. Ask yourself the question, " Are we in greater danger from Al Queda, etc... or Leviathon?" and... "Who will most likely do it among the candidates." Is Homeland Security protecting your liberties, or on a clear path to take them, as any future administration may see fit? For your protection, of course.
