I hate the "what if this was a child" Argument. This was a dog. If this was a child, the child care provider would be hauled off to jail for putting a leash on him/her and putting them into a kennel. In no way am I trying to downplay that the death of this dog was tragic and made the owner very sad and I think the owner has every right to be upset, but at the end of the day we are talking about animals which are property not human lives. I love all my dogs very much. they bring me and my family lots of Love and joy. I shed real tears when they shuffle off this Mortal coil and I consider them to be beloved members of my family, but in no way do I think that their life is remotely as valuable as a human being nor do I see my dogs as my children (though at times I have thought about Neutering my 2 boys). If I had to decide between a human life (my family or otherwise) and one of my dogs...sorry pooch...These are dogs and people need to treat them as such. Love them? yes, mourn their loss? yes, be angry over the circumstances surrounding this dog's death? yeah sure...throw the vet and her staff under the bus? I don't see how this helps anyone. I believe you should not air your dirty laundry in public...I can understand this family's grief, I just think they jumped the gun when it came to calling the news...furthermore I think the Seattle news media should stay on their side of the Mountains and sensationalize stories over there...do one on the inch of snow that shuts down the city...
Very sorry for your loss Mrs. Fulkerson. You had 15 wonderful years with this dog and I do sincerely hope you find peace in knowing what a wonderful pet she was. You sound like a good person who dearly loved her dog.
Doc Kathy is the most compassionate, professional vet I have ever worked with. She and I have talked life and death both at times when I've had to make the decision to put any of my older dogs down, and when we've welcomed new puppies into this world. She's gone out of her way to show me and my family kindness and compassion when we've had high vet bills, or emergencies with our dogs and Cats. She even talked to me and consoled me after my dad died. Her staff are well trained and genuinely care about the animals and families they serve. We love and respect her and her staff like Family as do many of her clients...
