As the owner of a '08 SX4 sedan, this makes me kind of sad. Only kind of. From a pure driving standpoint, this might be the best car that I've owned. It has sharp, crisp, nimble handling. The motor is enough to have plenty of fun on twisty roads and still give you 30mpg. The steering has plenty of feel, the pedals are close together and the shifter has lots of feel.
The rest of the car sucks. The paint chips too easily. The dash rattles. The interior is all black.
If Suzuki really went for it, they could make cars that would destroy the competition. Instead they let their fleet go stale and wait for inevitable extinction.

The apparent high-beam-lock-button. It must be part of the contract when buying a truck; Do you promise to be an asshole to everyone you drive behind?

I always figured they put spare towards the back of cars so that the husband wouldn't have to listen to his ridiculing wife as he's changing a tire. Imagine that. In this. With kids.

I always thought Dodge had some of the coolest car names. Up until the 90s anyway.

I test drove one about a month ago. Interior will blow your mind and a manual tranny that's so easy it almost drives itself. LOVED everything except the power. Wait for the turbo, trust me.

A Brera under any other clothing is not the same car. Performance is weak relative to price and looks. You put that body on a 97 Geo Metro and I'll pay 40 grand for it. Well I don't have 40 grand but you get the point. An ugly stripper and a hot stripper. One is much more appealing but both are empty and unstable.

I'll add one more point. Not only will it increase brand awareness like you mentioned first, but a halo car is crucial for brand image. Think of Mitsubishi, now think of Mitsubishi without the Evo. Meh. Showing that you're capable of more makes consumers have a more positive image of the rest of your line-up. Halo cars aren't about making a profit on each unit, they make you profits on the rest of your cars. By having this, you'll sell more of that.
Bars do this with liquor. They rarely make money on their top shelf liquors. If they have a $4 drink and a $7 drink on their menu, they wont sell many of the $7 drinks. By adding a third drink that's $15, it makes the $7 look less expensive.

I like that the TG producers and BBC continue to let him do so. Complaints schmomplaints. It gets them ratings.
