Lisa, interesting post. Let me refer your readers to a TRUE story, below is a link to the article. This happened less than one month ago! It's a true story of how a handgun could have saved the life of 2 people. Because the victim DID NOT have a handgun, someone died. The perpetrator died. And as strange as that may seem, for those who think that perpetrators deserve a chance, put a gun in the hands of the victim! Seriously....read this article, you will know that I'm talking about.

I also just did a podcast on this very subject, www.handgunworld.com

Guns SAVE lives more than they take them. In Florida, after allowing concealed carry, alligators now kill more people than do CCW permit holders!

I completely agree with TacticalIntelligence! Wow Lisa, you hit a homerun with this post! I've been touting "Survival Made Simple - not Extreme" for several weeks now on my show, but I never thought about the "state of oblivion." Good one!
As for God, he gives us all talents and all you have to do is read the book of Acts to find out what he expects us to do with those talents. Pay no attention to that comment from your relative.

This is such a great post, Lisa. My son recently asked me, "what can I do to start earning extra money, do you think our neighbors need me to do something for them?" He's only 11, but I'm serious, he came up with that himself, no prodding from me. Even though I'm a Dad, I find good stuff on this site. I didn't know about the four websites you mentioned. My wife will be interested to look at them too.

Thanks,
Bob

Not all emergencies are the type that will immediately knock out cell phone services. My brother actually uses the diabetes log. Survival is also about being prepared for minor emergencies, so they don't become major ones. Or the most "common" type of emergencies. The iPhone is a very useful tool. If you can't afford it, then don't buy one. Don't stop your other preparations to buy an iphone, but if you already have one, like me, then use it to it's fullest.
