I'm confusing because of SHAtter jailbreak for life and apple won't be able to close the hole!!! but now you said it might close the hole because of GEOHOT? guy stop all your ##hate## and try a good clean community and make and good benefit for all users.

I run into same problem but i have figuge out the way to set it.
first you need to backup from your iphone setting which the good run (apn setup and running)
then upgarde to 4.0.1 firmware. then use itune to restore your back up. after all done you need to went in the settings/genaral/network/ to turn off your enable 3g and cellular data. ""both must be off"" then you connect to internet use safari jailbreak 2.0 then unlock it with ultrasn0w. after all done restart your iphone you should see the apn setting. hope it work with your phone it did work on my 3GS 16GB new bootrom
