You can definitely use chunky yarn for socks. Have you checked ravelry for patterns? They should have plenty of sock patterns with chunky yarn. :)

I joined in today, sharing how to make a felted wool vest from an old sweater. I made Bracken one for his birthday and just finished another one with daisies on it. :)
Congrats on winning and that's so wonderful you can get supplies with it. :)
Love,
Taryn

I will write out a summary for you soon! :) You are welcome to ask me any questions.
We have never fed Bracken any grains. We stopped eating grains, beans, sugar, and dairy. I'm sure many of your questions will be answered when you read the book, but let me know if you have any others. :)
Love,
Taryn

I felted a wool sweater from the thrift store and then cut it down the middle and cut the sleeves off, and felted it again (so the edges would be felted.) Then I added toggle buttons on the front and did the design on the back by stitching on wool felt and doing a little needlefelting.
I will plan on writing more in depth on making these soon! :)

I don't like to have idle hands either. :) I like to always be working on something.
I love that cherry color of that yarn. It's going to make a gorgeous sunday sweater! :)

Taryn
