Awww, I'm sorry your baby-mage has moved on but it sounds like it was a very positive experience for both of you while it lasted. Also I think the behaviour of more experienced players to new players can have a huge impact on the game experience of both. I probably wouldn't have stuck at WoW at all if I hadn't been someone's pocket noob, and even though I'm not in touch with that person any longer I still remember him whenever I encounter a new player in the game.

Also, you never know, he might seek you out again a long time in the future when friends move on, guilds change, servers change ... WoW connections can be surprising like that :)

DK's can be pretty in pink!

Also Hine is a girl DK.

I like it actually - much more readable than the black.

Haha, I think I'll stick to dinosaurs. I have about as much acting ability as ... as ... a thing without much acting ability.

But I'll tell Chas his dulcet tones are required.

Why is Chas associated with dreamy English accents and I with dinosaur anal sex.

Your DK fame is spreading :D Nobody ever asks me for priest advice - I wonder why ;) And i'm glad things are going to so well for you, in game and out - the dissolution of you 10-man team was annoying, although given the culture you were working in probably inevitable.

Weeee! Geeky book talk. I read The Bone Doll's Twin quite a few years ago now and I liked it a lot - I thought the gender politics were interesting and I though the premise was delightfully creepy - I remember feeling quite disappointed, however, by the way the story developed although I can't remember for the life of me why... I suppose that probably suggests I should re-read them. If you like non-traditional, political, gender/sexuality aware fantasy, have you run across Ellen Kushner at all? Although, thinking back, perhaps it was the swordplay I liked best in those...

Lord Peter Whimsy is, and will always be, my favourite sleuth.

And although I am not a tabletop roleplaying sort I did actually flick through a copy of Changeling: The Lost a while ago - I remember thinking it was beautifully presented but frankly drawing an explicit connection between the characters' experiences of faery and real life abuse survival struck me as ... well ... not okay. The whole business struck me as this adolescent desire to convince us all about the darkness of fairy tales, man, when actually they're dark enough on their own terms already.

Sorry, ranty Tam is ranty :)

This really does put my minor guild dramas and crises into perspective :/ It's annoying how little place "common sense" seems to have in these sort of situations - I mean if the dude isn't damn well raiding, why should he have a raider rank? Also perhaps I'm just insanely idealistic but I think the spirit of law is implicit in its letters, you know. I don't have useful advice; this is just a general tea and sympathy type comment. But for what it worth's: I think you're dead right about this, and I don't think it's unduly harsh. I think it's pretty self-evident.

Yes, I join the hue and cry of "snot! snot! out the snot!"

I mean sometimes you just run across things that are significant enough upgrades that who cares if the itemisation is a bit dodgy. I had the Scougelords Baton for ages (lol!hit) and even now clueless caster DPS get annoyed when I roll on items they view as not being for healers on account of lacking spirit - and, really, life is too short to explain to people who disc priests work :P
