Yes, practice yoga when you're sick, just not asana. You can takes weeks away from your asana practice, but you can practice yoga every day.

Please, don't make asinine assumptions. You don't even know me. Being pissed at one aspect of a Chinese cultural practice does not mean I hate Bruce Lee, or that I don't consider Lao Tzu to be one of the greatest spiritual masters in the world. Or that the Chinese that landed up in South India didn't cross my own blood line! Or that a Chinese family is very much different than any other family in the world. You should read my article on bluefin tuna. I'm sure you'll think I hate Japanese people too. Arg!

Not sure about calling this a poem. It's too obvious and trite. Also, if my guy had a dick the width of a candy cane, I wouldn't be happy. At all. :'(

Yes, sure, burst the stereotypes! All for it. But the piece that spawned this one was hilarious, I thought. This piece reads more like a research paper, fuddy-duddy and a bit dry. Sorry, I'm a sucker for whatever makes me laugh these days. Oh, and I did not appreciate the caveat in the final paragraph. Yikes. Careful language is a comedian's nightmare. We should be able to speak how we want to, no?

I want to marry you for having "Teddy" on your list. Nine Stories is one of the best short story collections of all time, and it ends with such tear jerking raw power. Amen!!!! -Sunita

Thank you for this. Amazing timing. It makes the risks I've taken to live my life seem worth it, and not only that, the essential thing to do. The only thing to do. Love the forest metaphor. So perfect for autumn contemplations. Thanks for sharing this!

Please take some well deserved rest! I practice only once or twice a week, and I find that this enough with some walking thrown in. There's no need to kill myself. Your self-abusive behaviors seem to be engrained patterns, and they may never go away completely. But the good news is that new neural pathways can form the more you repeat a behavior, thereby causing the likelihood of *new* long-term connections and memories. YAY! I'm not judging you, as I have my own patterns to contend with. But I encourage you to Indulge in some new, more relaxing behaviors. With resolve and consistency, you can create new ways of being! Chill out. Be lazy more often. Guilt-free. You are worth it. This is YOGA. Peace. -Sunita

Hey Waylon! Chicago just implemented the possession of small amounts of marijuana -- forget exactly what constitutes this -- as a ticketable offense b/c our jails are so overcrowded. Progressive step, I say. They just ticketed the first peeps over last weekend at Lollapalooza. I am curious to see how this progresses.

A sanctimonius and mean-spirited comment from an anonymous soapbox -- oh so convenient. Who are you? Why don't use your real name? "eh, i dunno" is such a cop out, not to mention cowardly. As a writer on this site, I take offense to your bullshit comment. There is both high quality writing on Elephant and stuff that's not so high quality -- and everything in between.

Here's something from today that I think is really good: http://www.elephantjournal.com/2012/07/are-you-or...

Here's something I wrote recently: http://www.elephantjournal.com/2012/07/sushi-love...

You should check out more of the writing on here before making inane generalizations like this. I don't kiss anyone's ass, but I applaud Waylon and thank him for his vision of Elephant -- and giving me a platform to share some of my writings.

P.S. I am also not white and from Colorado. I live in Chicago. Though I am green and spiritual.

Have a nice day.
