This worked!!! Thank you VERY much! I didn't realize i could enter DFU from power off! MUCH appreciated!!

Edit (for benefit of anybody else who requires it): I was required to keep the home button pressed for a couple of minutes until the phone had enough power to boot itself - but work in principle!

I'm getting the power button replaced on Thursday, but asked how i can restore my iphone PRIOR to then - to remove traces of a jailbreak...

So, I jailbroke my iPhone 4 Redsn0w beta, then my power button broke (unrelated BTW)....

Today - I forgot to charge it and ran out of battery power. Result? My iPhone is stuck on the apple logo as I can't get it into DFU mode, and can't kick it into recovery mode to restore with iTunes either...

Anyone any ideas how i can restore it before i take it to the genius bar to have the power button fixed? I'd prefer not to take it in Jailbroken if possible...

Sorry - I've no experience of using mine outside the UK so can't be of much help.

Does she normally set it manually? If Network Selection is on 'Automatic' does it still not work?

I was just thinking the same thing actually!

Not had my iPhone long and am really pleased with it, but every day i look on here to see if there's any updates then root through the app store.

I'm not sure WHAT improvements/updates I want - I just fancy something new! : )

Out of curiosity Steve why do you want to update your FW but maintain your old BB if not for JB/unlock purposes?

You could always update to 3.1.2 with a custom FW, maintaining your current BB and just not make use of JB apps.

It's entirely up to you. Personally I updated my 3G iPhone to 3.1.2. ages ago and haven't experienced any problems with my carrier signal...

If there are issues i don't think they're particularly widespread.

Sorry - i've no experience using Winterboard.

Have you tried a good old-fashioned remove then reinstall?

Yes, please don't repost. If you're still stuck ask for further help on your original post.

Did you get it working or are you still stuck?

What's your iPhone status (previous JB, unlock required etc) and what error are you getting?

No, I'm afraid that Pwnage Tool is only available for Mac at the mo.

If you don't have access to a Mac or a custom IPSW from a 'reliable' source then your only option is Blackra1n/Sn0w.

@Musclenerd mentioned on twitter a few weeks ago that a Windows release was being considered, but no promises were made and certainly no ETA.

Personally, if i couldn't use Pwnage Tool I'd wait for now, rather than risk Black-weather problems.
