I haven't really read the article but I will say one thing: swords.

I have a shit ton of swords, but most of them would need sharpening before they'd be much use. Heavy, though.

On the other hand, if a "real" zombie apocalypse somehow did occur, I'd probably be too much of a whimp to fight the undead and just get as far away from the source(s) of the infection/cause as possible.

One thing I did do once was go through my house and plan in my head what I'd do (in terms of boarding windows/doors up, etc) if such a thing were to happen...

I wonder if they're offering positions for audience members as well.

Hmm.

The problem isn't really with the content of the games themselves, it's with parenting and loose ratings.

I've been playing games that depict violence from a very early age - I think I got my first Windows desktop PC at around the age of 6 or 7 and frequently played titles like Doom, Duke Nukem, Diablo, etc. Not to mention I also watched a ton of movies like Alien, Terminator, and so on.

I'm not a violent person by any means (Snat can attest to that), and I put that down to good parenting. Of course, it's arguable that I shouldn't have been seeing or playing games and movies of that nature regardless of how I am now, but I do have older brothers who were into the same kind of things, so it was difficult to avoid.

The kids (or more often adults as past incidents suggest) who actually go out wielding weaponry and severely harming or even killing people are not mentally stable. It's not really the content in movies, TV, and games that's at fault (though I admit it has an impact) - those people just have extremely sensitive minds and were probably neglected in some way during their childhood. It concurs with the theory that those who are bullied become bullies themselves.

My concern about it all is that the rating and censorship of these things is very skewed. A movie with explicit sexual content will undoubtedly have a rating of 18+, or depending on just how extreme the sexual content is, it may not even get past the boards. On the other hand, the good majority of movies that depict extreme violence (be it torturing, beheading, lots of blood, etc) usually end up with a rating of 15+.

Something doesn't add up there, but what's worse is that the ratings don't really -mean- anything. Most retailers sell these things to just about anyone anyway, and many parents today don't realise the impact such things can have on their children. Either that or they simply don't care.
