WHY did Azilah and Sirul murder Altantuya? The answer to this question is far more important than the murder, the law and their conviction.

This is supposed to be a democracy. UMNO is free to vote according to its conscience. However, Gerakan should part company with UMNO and leave BN if the 88 UMNO MPs vote for the Bill against Gerakan's aspirations. Unless, Gerakan can manage to persuade a mere 18 UMNO MPs (less than 20%) to at least abstain from voting.
The use of the term 'Allah' in Christian Bibles and other materials in Malaysia is an issue for ONE and ONE reason only. Some Muslims fear that other Muslims might seek to covert to Christianity because of it. (Of course, there are some others who see it in the broader context of Malay-rights and Ketuanan Melayu - but that is another story.) But for those who genuinely fear the conversion of Muslims, there is a solution and it is simplicity itself. Enact a simple law under the Penal Code criminalising the very act of any Muslim in converting to Christianity. Even better, provide that any purported conversion from Islam to Christianity is automatically rendered null and void and of no effect. Such a provision would not be inconsistent with the Federal Constitution, and the BN Government may pass it with an equally simple majority in Parliament. That way, we will no longer need to go about life in Malaysia chasing and hunting down Bibles, hymn books and other reading materials which might contain that alternate term for God Almighty. By analogy, as in the defence of a football team on the field, each team has to jaga his own side of the padang and goal post. We cannot prevent an own-goal by running over to the other side to hentam the other goalkeeper.
Dear Khairy, a few fans and fanatics do get quite unruly at the General Assembly as well. Would you not then also say: "These violent fans do not represent 'Malays'. My sincere apologies on behalf of Malaysia for the actions of these small number of irresponsible thugs?"
