I hadn't seen "Polar Express" until I (unknowingly) bought it for my little boys. Nice, warm, Christmas family movie, right? Except the kids cried their eyes out when they saw that seriously creepy animation. The DVD has gathered dust since.

The short answer is that publishers don't make comics like they used to because we don't make kids like we used to. And we are all the poorer for it.

In a couple of years you'll get them for peacefully opening a Cracker Jack box.

Susan, you just don't get it. There's no jealousy because the Nobel prize isn't an honor anymore. It's a political weapon. The Nobel committee doesn't honor anyone, it makes a point of dishonoring others by it's presentation. I can only speak for myself but you can keep the "honor" of sharing an award with Al Gore, Jimmy Carter and Arafat.

Having said that, my only question to you and your ilk is this: What has he accomplished to deserve international recognition? Obama's own base is beginning to question his abilities because he just hasn't done ANYTHING. What has he done?

I won't even get into the issue of the nomination deadline being a few days after his innauguration. If we get another 3 years of Obama what will see accomplished? The fact is, the only thing of note, the only thing history will celebrate is this nation elected a (half) black president in 2008. And that's about it.

By the way, in regards to Mr. Rhames and Mr. Lemmon. Wow! Two gentlemen that still know what class means. And Mr. Sinise as well.

Terry Gilliam's name on that list breaks my heart. Stil, nice to have in writing EXACTLY which people in Hollywood have no grasp on morality.

Knottie, I gotta tell you I'm pretty far to the right on most issues, I listen to Glenn Beck regularly, am a member of a 9/12 group and despises the "values" espoused by liberals. But....you are absolutely right. Today is no day for agendas. Today is a day we remember the tragic loss of so many of our fellow citizens, many of whom we would have disagreed with vehemently. Men, women, young and old and of every racial stripe and creed. They were Americans and we dishonor them by fighting with one another today.

I caught Frommer's remarks on National Propaganda Radio and it is true that race wasn't mentioned. Only the horror of people actually exercising the rights given them by the forefathers (and foremothers) who carried rifles before them.
