Exactly. Hope for the best; plan for the worst.

Because letting the majority decide the rights of the minority is a great idea.

The people voted the representatives into office. That's how our system works.

Loudmouse, what about movies that portray violence? Horror films, for example. A movie like Halloween or Scream or any other film which involves the murder of innocents is NOT AT ALL DIFFERENT from cartoon drawings of illegal acts. Both are completely fictional, both focus on illegal acts. The only difference is that one gets millions of people into theaters and the other garners kneejerk reactions from people who can't separate fantasy from reality.

And who says he did anything of that sort? Maybe he had mother-son incest fantasies and drawn LEGAL porn of such situations was something he simply enjoyed. The guy was a creep, certainly, but there's no evidence yet that this was anything beyond spank material for him. And, again, it's legal.

How is that moronic logic? Homeless + see a home that nobody is using = problem solved. Just because it makes them a freeloader doesn't mean that it's not logical.

If you've been reading these comments, you'd see that the popular ones are condemning the bad cops and clearly stating that something needs to be done about them, not that 'all cops are pigs' or something along those lines.

There are people stating that the whole SPD should start from a clean slate, and I have to agree, not because all the cops are bad apples, but because nothing's being done about them. The mayor, the police chief, and the other higher-ups are doing nothing about the problem of corruption, which will only make things worse in the long-run as the bad cops thrive over the honest ones.

Police officers are also paid well and receive pretty great benefits; it's not volunteer work. On the flip side, how many fishermen, loggers, pilots, etc could easily plant or threaten to plant evidence to get you arrested, admit to it, and likely get off with a slap on the wrist? How many garbage collectors could accidentally murder an innocent man and not face prison time?

Having a dangerous job doesn't mean you can get away with things like this. To go full geek and quote the Spider-Man comics, "With great power comes great responsibility". Because of the power that law enforcement officers wield, they should be held to a higher standard, not a lower one. Yes, I imagine it's an incredibly stressful job loaded with political bullsh*t, but nobody's forcing them to do it. For every scumbag cop like the one in this article, I'm sure there's one actual hero who'd be willing to take their place in the force.
