Yup you have Mark. I didn't mention it as there a fair few of the buggers around! This roost had Bar and Black-tailed Godwits, Great Knots, Red Knots, Red-necked Stints, Curlew Sandpipers as well as those mentioned.

Unfortunately people can walk around on the beach as they want, well at least this section.

Thanks Denis! Haha I am not sure about imposing. generally. I think I become imposing when someone tries to separate me from something I have been searching for in the hot tropical sun for several days!!

Mark I wish I had some camera gear that came in more than one part. Working part time for a non profit organisation just doesnt afford such opportunities! I use a Panasonic Lumix FZ35. It's an OK camera but the autofocus drives me nuts. I actually had to manually focus those Forest Kingfisher shots. Can you imagine?? Manually focusing on a P&S?! What a bloody nightmare.

Thanks Barbara! Those whistling-ducks were particularly fond of it. It was a treat to watch!

I can't be certain but I am fairly sure it is native. I say "weed" as this is a type of duckweed (Lemnaceae) plant. Apparently it can really improve a pond/lagoons health.

Thanks mate! Much appreciated. I think everything is more exciting in the tropics! Including the viruses unfortunately, I have had a high fever for over 24 hours.

A little smaller than massive but definitely impressive for a man made wetland! I will definitely be heading back there soon...

Thanks mate, appreciated. I actually got lots more photos of the "Reef Heron" (haha) hunting, but this was my favourite. Eastern Reef Egrets are all white, at least the white morph, which could be why the name was changed to Egret. I think they still call the Western Reef Heron a heron in most countries...

How about that, I can't really imagine a circumstance where they would get down that far! Cyclone, perhaps?
