As someone who has been before the insurance companies "death panels", and have been denied insurance due to my weight, I 'm wondering if these skinny, "healthy" individuals had any trouble getting health insurance at excellent rates.
At least they didn't cost "our" health care system any money, having been thoughtful enough to simply die before costing an insurance company any of it's precious profits...

That's right, people...listen to the overpaid legions from the insurance companies that are spamming the comments on news sites & bb's, trying to look like they're a majority...
Don't be duped by these money-worshipping neo-cons! There are 37 million citizens without health insurance, and millions more underinsured because of the greed of these un-American traitors!...they don't care about you, they don't care about the sick & injured, they care only for money, in amounts they can't possibly count in a lifetime.
They'd sell you out for just one more nickle...write your editors, call your congressmen & senators...defeat these leeches...you may well be the next one laid off, or be the next to develop a condition they cherry-pick you out of the insured ranks for...or it may be someone you love they turn on next...then how will you feel, after allowing them to dupe you like this.

People here have pretty much summed it up...we let Clinton sell multi-stage missile technology to the Chicoms, supposedly so they could launch satallites much more cheaply and put American techs out of their jobs, while also signing the GATT treaty to allow our industry to move to China & India without tarriff worries, & put more US workers out of their jobs...all this greed has weakened the US, and allowed unfriendly countries to become a nuclear threat...well done, American executive trash...you'll sink with us.

As an American, it's unusual to me, seeing a government concerned about the welfare of it's workers...here in the States, our government would simply laugh and say "ship it to China!, who cares?...the workers will migrate to some other part of the country, to get a Wall-Mart job". We've seen our middle class devestated over the last 30 years by administrations that care nothing for protecting job markets for Americans...now they're in a state of confusion as to why our banks are failing and our economy is slowly dieing...anyone that buys our debt is an idiot.

As an American who can't buy health insurance, I personally don't care how much Obama screws up the present system. As for Medicare covering the uninsured, it only covers you after you've gone bankrupt and lost everything. There have been 4 increases in my wife and daughter's insurance over the last 5 years (5000 deductable, and they refuse to cover my daughter's asthma) and each increase has been in excess of 25%...with the next increase, we are priced out of the market and they will lose coverage as well.
I don't really like Obama, he is as spendthrift as all the president's before him. His recent pick for Supreme Court justice is atrocious, for instance. But I have voted Republican my entire life, and the Republicans have let health care in this country become such a cash-cow that it has destroyed the ability of many people to simply go to the doctor when they are sick or injured...my last bout with pneumonia, for instance, was without benefit of doctor or hospital...I survived anyway, and I suggest the rest of you grow a pair and learn to live without medicine or hospitals as well...or just die off, so the rest of society does not have to be dragged down by the weak.

So-called conservatives can't sign on to universal health insurance because they are not conservatives, they are neo-cons, and they worship money...and there's plenty of money to be pillaged from the sick & injured in America, as long as they can stop that pesky idea of cost control from taking root.
They have a lot of honest, hardworking dupes they've dragged along by wrapping themselves in the flag, and flattering them with the title of "patriot", if they will unknowingly sell out their fellow Americans and support multi-million dollor per year CEO's and their cherry-picking profiteering
Until they themselves are laid off, or try to become self-employed, or develop a medical condition that precludes them from buying insurance, they will not understand what it means to be "thrown away" by their own country, and to be considered "expendable".
