MovieBob, I throw the BS flag at your post. I don't need to be "elite" to know that I live in a nation with a Constitution that I revere and that our current government is made up of a gaggle of career politicians who place their personal financial interests above their allegiance to our Constitution and their constituency. To me, that's enough for a "movement" like the Tea Party to maintain momentum and demand (and receive) CHANGE.
Mike, I see where you're headed BUT re question 1: the bill to me clearly is designed to make a public option unnecessary because it forces insurers to lose subscribers due to increased premiums (see the parts about $70 billion in taxes and limiting profits/overhead while requiring coverage of preexisting conditions)---in other words, this bill is meant to put insurers out of business eventually. As for student loans, they won't be more affordable, because the bill has factored in the federal govt's plan to borrow money at 2% and loan it to students at 6.8%, thereby making it more expensive to use that federal money. Finally, I'm the parent of a med student who is halfway through med school, and he's apoplectic about how Obama twists the way medical care works. Demonizing doctors, great plan. Shame on BO and Congress.
Oh, Dan, didn't you see the stickers that celebrated BO's election? They said "Yes, we did!" and "Together we made history." You think that was referring to the electorate picking a guy who would do what was right for America? Wrong. It was about electing someone because of and only because of two things: 1. he wasn't George W. Bush and 2. he was "black."
And make federal employee unions illegal.
I'm not a Tea Partier just because Obama appalls me. I'm a Tea Partier because POLITICIANS place their own interests above the country's welfare and they don't mind ignoring their constituents and the Constitution to do it. Even IF most Tea Partiers are simply against BO, that's okay with me, too, because frankly, he's keeping me awake at night worrying about his sinister agenda---and believe me, he has one.
I'd forgotten all about the birth certificate, what with the pissing on the Constitution and all, but now that you mention it, BO, how 'bout you show it to all of us deranged Tea Partiers?
Wow. One correction: about 48% of us didn't vote for this creep. That means it wasn't "overwhelming" at all.
You saw the same photos I did. Hands in laps, watching politely.
We adults wouldn't tolerate this from our peers in any setting. I don't see why we let kids think it's tolerable at school.
I don't agree. If you tell the admins that you will sue them for all they're worth unless the bullying stops, and you respond forcefully every time one of the little twerps tries to regain control, you WILL win.
