Are there any plans in place to start a new fundraising campaign for the west side of Reser? As nice as the east side looks, we still play in a half finished stadium. I know I would contribute something to the fundraising effort if I knew a plan was in the works.
I hope that torch isn't passed to Katz! How many games has Locker won? Keep that torch of a losing record with him. All of the hype isn't his fault, but has there ever a bigger hype job for a qb with the type of record he has?
I just want to see some "nastyness" out of the players this week. So far they have looked timid and uninspired. If they come out with a chip on their shoulders they should be okay this Saturday. Without that "chip," we are in trouble.
Cliff,
I have a question about the H-Back/Tight End situation. Why in the world doesn't Halahuni play more? He is a great receiving threat and once he does catch the ball, he is a load to bring down. He reminds me of Antonio Gates. I know he is technically the "H-Back" and not the tight end but the team needs its best players on the field as often as possible. I was at the game in Dallas and I kept seeing him on the sideline in obvious passing situations. He is too good of a player to not be in the game more often. Any thoughts on this issue? Thanks.
Cliff, What is your take on the Beavs preparing differently this year in order to avoid another slow start? Have you noticed a difference this year compared to prior years? From reading the scrimmage reports, it sounds like the starters aren't getting a lot of reps. With our notoriously slow starts I wouldn't mind a little extra work for the starters. I agree that Quiz and Paea don't need a ton of reps, but a little bit of live action wouldn't hurt. As someone that attends practice regularly, what are your thoughts? Thanks.
I disagree. If I recall correctly, Victor Butler wasn't recruited by one big time program. Either was James Rodgers. I have to give Riley the benefit of the doubt based on his ability to find solid recruits that are passed up by the "big time" programs.
Cliff, Thanks for the update. I was the one that posted about the exterior being underwhelming. I love the look of the building itself, but I just think they could have at least added some nice signage to the building. I am sure that would be allowed as it would not affect the structure the building. I remember in the late 80's, early 90's, they had a huge, ugly, scoreboard just above the ticket office. It looked like the old scoreboard they had in Reser before the renovation.
Cliff, I was wondering if the renovation of gill is complete. If so, the exterior is quite underwhelming in my opinion. I figured they would at least add some nice signs similar to the "Reser Stadium" sign on the front of Reser. They had a great opportunity to create a nice looking plaza area between Reser and Gill. It seems that motivation was sorely lacking on this project. Do you know of any future plans for the outside of Gill?
What a tough ending to a great season. It was tough for me to get up today and I only watched the game. I can only imagine how Riley feels. In my opinion, this loss (and the USC loss) simply came down to the fact that we just can't get defensive stops at the end of games. I would have loved to see Canfield get the ball back with one more shot.
On another point, do you have any idea what Dockery was doing when he gave up that 70+ yard td pass? It was third and about ten and he was playing tight press coverage. As soon as I saw how tight he was playing I was yelling at the TV for him to back up. Was it a case of him not being aware of the down and distance situation or what? I'm not saying it would have changed the outcome of the game but I just can't figure that one out.
Thanks for keeping us out of towners up to date with the football news.
