So this is the official eyewash! Perhaps Karuna will now take over the mercenary activities of the GoSL!

It is not about who wins the war, but the climate that arises after the war; will it be feasible to solve the problems of the Tamils or will it not?. The LTTE after all these years has failed to provide a proper solution to the problems faced by the Tamils. By winning the war this situation will not change. It will only usurp another opportunity for the Tamils to seek a sustainable political solution to their problems. Haven't we lost enough opportunities already?

One thing that must remain clear is that part of the Tamil diaspora despite the majority of it still being blind to the atrocities committed by the LTTE has become increasingly vocal in expressing their disgust with the LTTE as well as their frustration against this majority within them that continues to USE the suffering of the civilians trapped in the war zone in the Vanni as a last shot at saving the LTTE.
*Apparently, some Tamils who opposed the LTTE during the days of the cease-fire agreement are now grudgingly recognising the role played by the LTTE in bringing attention to the Tamil ‘grievances’* - This statement by the author is implausible! On the contrary those who have been ardent followers of the LTTE are more and more expressing their disgust towards the LTTE and its ability to kill its own people while shouting 'genocide' against the government.

The humanitarian crisis is truly reaching appalling heights, but can we just sit back and continue to watch it deteriorate? Isn't there something that civil society organisations can collectively do with regards to this, to put pressure on the GoSL? Unfortunately, the masses are clearly divided on this matter with the majority of the Sinhalese steadfastly believing in and concentrating solely on the GoSL's military advancement whereas the majority Tamils including the Diaspora Tamils strongly and blindly continue to support the LTTE. Whatever is left of the neutral voices is overpowered and trampled down to null.

congrats on very clearly discussing the misconceptions that have become a vicious deterrent to a positive change of attitude towards a negotiated solution to the conflict.

Sam, you people supposedly began the 'armed revolution' claiming that other peaceful methods had failed and fought and are still fighting a bloody war for an absolute utopia, 'Tamil Eelam'. After all these years and the endless numbers of lives lost and are still being lost you still believe that Eelam is the only solution in restoring the human rights and dignity of the Tamil people. ...and you say that I am dreaming!

You and your 'revolutionaries' have missed several opportunities to bring about a negotiated settlement, not even hesitating to kill your own brethren who chose to dissent. In the hypothetical situation of Tamil Eelam becoming a reality what is the guarantee that you will not start fighting internally based on caste, regional animosity and revenge?

Sam and like minded people need to get a reality check. It will be a great help if people try to understand the true meaning of genocide, a term that is being continuously misconstrued these days, the biggest culprits today being the nonsensical Tamil Nadu people. In reality we cannot blame such ignorant groups when we have people like Sam who continuously remain blind to the atrocities of the LTTE and fuel the guilt-ridden, messed up long-distance nationalism of the Tamil Diaspora.
