I'd like to see the crooked ex-special branch boys have to answer for themselves, while taking down Sinn Fein while they're at it. The peace process will survive without them, it's not like we all don't know what they were up to.

He's a belligerent and dangerous fool, at best. He was not just tweeting that he thought Assad was as bad as other regimes, he was asking for support of Assad and claiming that Cameron is morally inferior. Sounds like he admires Assad's tactics. Disgusting!

The BT comments page seems to have been taken over by left-wing lunatics. Clearly they have far too much time on their hands. Possibly working a three-day week, or not at all? I too lived through the Thatcher years and don't like everything she did, but the numbers speak for themselves, she left office with the country in much better shape than when she took over. Taking the example of coal miners, which seems to be a favourite of the left, we could not and should not have subsidized this environmentally dangerous fossil fuel. The fate of the mines was already written, it was on it's way out... Unfortunately for the honest workers that relied upon them. Even with rose-tinted glasses we can't look back on the Unions of the day and come to any other assertion, other than they were out of control and a very negative force for the nation.

Agreed: It seems to be consistently getting worse, just like the political discourse.

I don't believe its malicious intent, but it's my assertion that it's based on how they are oriented and organized. Basically they just can't help going straight to the lowest common denominators. This makes them part of the problem, not the solution.

I went to school in East Belfast with many of these people you call "neanderthals", they do not spend much time reading philosophy or history, but they can manage the tabloid writing style put forth by the BT. Silly person.

BT, all you're doing is advertising this as an opportunity for the thugs. If you have this information, tell the PSNI and keep quiet. You have a responsibility to take a leadership position too.

What an absolute disgrace! - I am starting to get more concerned about how this is going to end. The thugs of Northern Ireland have been taught that violence pays, as it has consistently been proven out over many years. This will probably pay off for the Loyalists, as they have nothing to lose by carrying on. The political "leaders" in BCC clearly have no foresight, and we will all pay dearly for it. Time for major changes ahead.

This newspaper should also take a hard look at how it covers the news. You're constantly covering stories from sectarian angle, stoking to fires of bigotry. As the largest local NI paper, you also need to show some civic leadership.
