So there was a confrontation of two groups of people and the gunfire errupted after a basketball game. What's a proposed solution from UC and X?

* Take two rival schools and put them downtown.
* Increase total capacity from 10K at Xavier and 13K at UC to 17K down at US Bank
* Add a few bars
* Place in crock pot for 3 hours
* Watch fan behavior worsen

“This ever-growing game night crowd that gathers on the street outside the building, that can't continue,” Cornett said. “There are too many public safety concerns. As much as we love the expression of enthusiasm, it's no longer a workable situation.”

Cornett said city officials haven't met with Thunder management to discuss alternatives, but options such as limiting the crowd size or moving spectators inside the Cox Convention Center are on the table.

“We need to hear from the team and what direction they would like to head,” Cornett said. “I'm sure we can come up with something that is workable.”

From newsok.com:

Update: Thunder Alley to close; arrest made in Bricktown shooting following OKC Thunder game
Eight people were wounded by gunfire and a pregnant woman was injured shortly after the Oklahoma City Thunder game Monday night. Police say the shooting started after a confrontation between two groups of people.

Cornett said city officials loved the spirit shown by the 6,000 or more people who gathered outside the Chesapeake Energy Arena to watch the game Monday, but the shooting incident afterwards in nearby Bricktown demonstrated the problems with such a setup.

Hope Doc is focusing on his book about Jillian.

Re Reds: Great game last night. Thought it was interesting that Chapman threw nothing but fastballs - wonder if he had a little pent up rage.

Re Crosstown shootout moving to US Bank: Are they trying to make it a less "hostile environment" for the other team? It could serve to make the environment more hostile...bars in stumbling distance from the arena, allowing for more capacity for fans to clash as opposed to one home court where the crowd is predominantly one team.
You hear about some of the stuff going on with fans nowadays, OKC, the incident with the Giants/Dodgers last year, fan decorum is crumbling faster than the Brent Spence bridge.

Made my way over to TML via Facebook for the sole purpose of telling Doc to get on Twitter. That will probably be the last time I do that...too many hoops to get through in order to log in. Pain in the foot.

Re Chapman: How is it that he already had a suspended license? The jokes about Chapman and speeding are endless...especially because it involves a radar gun. Does he really have an "Ashanti" tattoo on his arm? That's what I read anyway.

I think the fastest I've ever driven on any highway was 85. But, any car I've ever driven tends to start getting the shakes when it's above 75.

Re Doc on Twitter: He should tweet. It'd be a nice way to stay in touch with the other TML refugees out there. Plus, unlike Facebook, it isn't as personal. I'm on there - real name and photo. I found Tyler last night and started following him. Anyone else out there on Twitter? Let me know.

CP is spot on. If you're over in Blue Ash, head over to Blue Ash Chili. Better choice than Skyline. I think Blue Ash Chili's been featured on some of the Food Network shows.

I know Tom+Chee (over on Newport on the Levee) has been. Home of the famous Grilled Cheese Donut. I've never tried one, but their actual grilled cheese sandwiches are awesome.

Re Btw: Not too much to add beyond the good advice others have given. If you're not a fan of crowds (I'm certainly not) I'd avoid downtown as much as possible during Memorial Day. From the sky, I'm sure it looks like someone kicked over an ant hill...with all the people swarming along, carrying their food.

I park at Newport on the Levee and walk over. Newport has good places to eat, hang out. The aquarium is right there, they have some Cincinnati sports shop too (nothing great - just some gear and some autographed stuff to buy). Blue Ash is where I work - pretty businessey in some spots, but nice and clean. Kenwood Mall is a short drive from Blue Ash so you can always go down there - but expect crowds there too. They've got a Chessecake Factory and some other decent restaurants...inside is a Disney Store, Build-a-bear (kids can get a stuffed Gapper for 10-15 bucks) dependening on their age.

Glad the Bengals got a CB that doesn't have a Medicare card yet. Also, glad they got someone to help protect Dalton and keep him upright.

Apparently the Browns GM is now trying to trade Colt McCoy. Unbelievable. This team was awful quick to throw in the towel on him. People complain about the Dolphins not having a QB since Dan Marino...the Browns have been in the same sinking ship. Couch, Quinn, McCoy, etc. And they use #1 draft picks on these guys!

Re Reds: Tough way to lose yesterday. Rolen hits another home run though! Does he still have something left in the tank after all?

Dusty Baker on why Cozart sat last night: " I believe in playing everybody." What is this? Gym class? Does Baker bring the orange slices and juice boxes for after the game for all the players too? Does he have the parents form a tunnel for the players to run through? I know Valdez got a hit last night, but this kind of philosophy is absolutely absurd. Same thing with his comment last year about playing everybody because they have to feed their families next year.
