Re B2M: I liked his analogy of the 162 as a mosaic. I agree with that. No professional sport should be scrutinized less on a day in, day out basis than baseball, yet given the daily games - it's virtually impossible not to do so.

People are feeling great about the club right now. But if the Astros have anyone other than CoCo as the closer, that series looks a whole lot different. It's true...winning cures a lot of things. The absence of Votto is masked by the final box score. Getting him back will be huge, but the top of the lineup has been turrible. The problem is, I don't think Victorino is the guy that makes this team a threat to make a deep post-season run. Who does? Is there one guy they can add that would truly make this team something more than just the champs of the Central?

I don't see a Cliff Lee type pitcher available. Realistically the only positions the Reds may look at would be SS and CF...everywhere else they seem content. I think it would take two moves to make a deep run and I don't know that the Reds have the chips to trade or payroll to do two.

This just in...Billy Hamilton is fast. Holy Blue Wahoo Batman! I'd love to see him up with the big club if nothing more than to pinch run

Re Reds: Nothing like a 3 game sweep of the Cards to make you feel like going Leonardo Dicaprio in Titanic and shout, "We're kings of the Central!"

Great series and I was glad I got to spend it with family at the game on Saturday. Like BtwOSU said...love that two former Cards were the ones to win it for the Redlegs.

Bailey continues to show more and more consistency. If he keeps it up, he'll exceed my prediction of a .500 pitcher. Great series!!

Re Chapman: Marty said it on Sunday. "Joe Morgan said it back in 1974. You can't throw the ball hard enough. They'll catch up to it." Gotta wonder if he's going through a slump or is actually a little more banged up (physically or mentally) than what the Reds are letting on. I think bringing him in for some less pressure situations where he has a nice cushion to work with is something the Reds really need to consider.

Re Hemingway today: Enjoyed his perspective. Sports do mean a lot and provide a sense of normalcy when life is chaotic.

Re Reds: Bad night for Bad Arroyo to show up.

Re this site: Man, where is everyone today?

Re TML: Any updates on Paul's whereabouts? Just read yesterday's offering from a guest that was less than filling.

Re Reds: Last night's game was really frustrating. Heisey's scamper toward home in the top of the 10th was great...only to be zapped by the homer in the bottom of the 10th. Chapman seemed to be struggling a lot last night - gotta wonder if he's going through a little slump himself right now. Maybe if it wasn't strictly fastballs...

Re Hitting coach (cont): And maybe that's the real problem. We've got Baker that is content with letting players call the shots and too worried about everyone's feelings, equal playing time, re-ordering toothpicks and picking out his newest titanium necklace to actually handle numbskulls like Special K Stubbs.

Re Hitting coach: By simply saying "the player has to want to change" it's kind of like saying, the patients are running the asylum. You establish the way things need to be done. Make it the Reds way. You hear about other great organizations - the Patriot way - there's an expectation on how you carry yourself and go about being a professional. So by simply saying, "well the guy has to want to learn," makes it sound like you have no influence over your players. I don't buy that for a second. And that's not what I want to hear from an organization that's trying to win a World Series.

If I'm the GM or Dusty Baker - you tell everyone on the roster, "there's absolutely no excuse for you not to work at your position, or at the plate the same way Joe Votto does. Not all of you may be able to obtain that same level of success, but the way you treat your job should be the same. That's what we're establishing as an organization. If you're not doing that, we don't have room for you on the field."

Re Rome: He's a poser. Always trying to impress people, seem cool and name drop. Heard some other radio guy talking about he uses a teleprompter. Plus, you gotta believe that a lot of the e-mails and texts he receives are phony.

Dan Patrick said it best last night, "if you dance with Stern, that's what you're going to get. He returns fire." Patrick went on to give some ways he would have gone about talking about the topic. Asking questions like "Why do these questions continue to surround the NBA?" "Why doesn't the audience get to see the balls being pulled," etc.

Re Reds: You know BP's fire burns a little brighter when he plays Cleveland. Glad to see him have a big night last night.

Re Cain: Nobody can diminish what he accomplished last night. I'm already tired of reading, well, it's the Astros. I don't care. These are still MLBers. It was amazing. Why no mention in TML today? Also no mention of Chad to the fins yet?
