Why should Canadians opinons not matter on an article published by a Canadian magazine, on a Canadian website, that discusses Canadian legal matters. Go read CNN, or where it seems you get most of your info: wikipedia.

I strongly resent the website you have posted and what it stands for. No system is perfect, there will always be flaws. The difference with Canada is that we are constantly trying to improve and fix the system. If you don't like Canada, get the heck out and leave us alone.
My Grandparents and parents immigrated here from Eastern Europe, and I am thankful every day that they did, and for the privilleged life I have known here in Canada. I have received a great education, great health care, and the priviledge to live in the best country in the World!
I have to state it again: if you don't like Canada, get the heck out, you hoser!
PS: how has this post been up for over a week and no one else has commented?!?

Part of growing up is learning the rewards of hard work. Why would these kids work hard in life, when they are being taught that just showing up is enough.
I went to high school and college, worked hard, and had to work part-time to pay for novelties such as my cell phone bill. And now I have an education and a great career to show for it.
All you're doing is showing these kids how to apply for welfare early.

Schools should never get involved in the political actions of a staff member.

Students Unions are meant to support causes that 99% of the student body agrees with, like not to drink and drive, or Frosh Week.

When I think back to the Tamil Protests in Toronto, I recall the illegal actions taken by the protesters, such as walking on the highway. In a country where there are so many ways to legally and safely express your opinion, it's a shame that instances such as that, as well as this UofT staff member, undermine the real cause.
Perhaps if this person had protested in an acceptable, legal way, she wouldn't have these court costs to deal with.

I think an important thing to point out - much like Female Genital Mutilation (FGM or Female Circumcision), that honour killings are a cultural practice, not a religious one. Islam is a peaceful, respectful religion, and the Prophet would not have approved.

That a pretty big generalization. Afghanistan has mass opiate problems, Australia has high rates of meth and heroin, ... the list goes on. Substance abuse is far from an American problem.
