That's not entirely accurate. Bush granted Woodward interviews, but he had no editorial control over any of Woodward's books. That said, the complete quote Woodward cited in his book was:

"Going into this period [invading Iraq], I was praying for strength to do the Lord's will. . . . I'm surely not going to justify war based upon God. Understand that. Nevertheless, in my case I pray that I be as good a messenger of His will as possible. And then, of course, I pray for personal strength and for forgiveness."

i.e., he was praying for the strength to do God's will, whatever it may be, not that he WAS doing God's will. It's a far cry from "God told me to invade Iraq", which is what some people want us to believe he thought. That's why when citing this quote, people tend to conveniently leave out everything after the ellipses.

By his own words? Sounds more like hear-say, spoken by people who benefit greatly by telling certain people exactly what they want to hear.

Yeah, except Bush never said that. Which kind of makes YOU full of the aforementioned substance, doesn't it?

Fair enough. Let anyone here who hasn't taken bribes or called the Marines war criminals cast the first stone.

What about conservatives who aren't Christians?

Try reading a book sometimes. Conservatism is a political philosophy, not a religious one.

I actually had more respect for environmentalists back when it WAS all about cleaner air and water. But then you sold your souls to socialists who care less about the environment than they do about power and control. Now you're just a joke.

All kids do stupid things in school from time to time. That's why they invented DETENTION.

There's nothing wrong with letting your ideology dictate your actions, as long as it isn't a destructive ideology. Pop Culture has been on a downward spiral since at least the 60's for many reasons, not the least of which is that it's been 100% market driven. When the decision-makers let the market be their sole guide, we get Jerry Springer. We get cop-killer gangsta rap. We get mainstream movies that are increasingly pornographic. We should be lamenting the fact that not enough ideology-driven media moguls have stood up and said "You know, I can make a fortune selling this garbage, but I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I did."
