Yea, Yelchin had a GREAT 2009 though, sucker was everywhere. It wasn't the best T movie, that would be the original to me, I am a purist I guess.

Saw this last night, and again, I think the writer captured my thoughts on the film perfectly. The second half of this film didn't really correspond with the first, and I hated MG's character - I am no fan of her anyway...except for Secretary, fine piece of work there. But, the comedy takes a back seat too much at the tail end of this film, they should have kept making us laugh all the way to the end. The first scenes are pretty good though.

THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG - ANIMATED & ORIGINAL SONG

See what directors Ron Clements and John Musker had to say about their Oscar Nomination:

"This rare honor is a thrill, not only for us, but for the 400 or more artists who gave so much of their talents in bringing classical hand-drawn Disney animation in (The Princess and the Frog) back to the big screen."

This is what Peter Docter and Jonas Rivera had to say on the Oscar Nomination for Up.

"We are humbled and grateful to the Academy. Being nominated among these remarkable animated films is such an amazing privilege. On top of that, to be honored as one of the best pictures of the year is just mind-blowing. It’s truly been a long, wonderful ride getting here, and with all sincerity it really does feel like we’re floating on air."

H-Man, I have to agree with Lisa here, I pride myself on really catching the "twist" in films, and I spotted this one right away. Still, several scenes were creepy, and talking animals always get to me, I would have like to see more goat stuff personally. The scene in Summer of Sam when the dog talks to Berkowitz, well, I can't watch it again, like I said, those things REALLY stick in my head. But, this film came off as hoaky at times and just absurdly disgusting, there were so many scenes I was just like, that is freakin' gross!

Also, in one scene a character is literally vomited on by a corpse and then the next frame, nary a drop is on her. FAIL on that continuity. I will say I enjoyed the psychological terror, but since the overt, hands-on evil was so direct, it lost its oomph to me. Take Paranormal Activity for example, only a few special effects were used and that scared the HELL outta most people. And maybe it is the right-wing Republican in me, but I was like, hey old gypsy lady, tough shit, you had two chances, deal with it! You want to see a great mind-screw with Gypsies, rent Thinner, and oh yea, Kari Wuhrer is in it . . . she is a smoking hottie!

I FINALLY saw this one, last night, it was long, but like H-Man says, QT managed to bring the dialogue to a level that didn't make you twist all night. The violence was swift and lethal and vicious right where it was needed. One particularly twisted scene has to do with the Bear Jew. My only criticism would be the Mexican music in the background, at least it sounded Mexican to me, or maybe Spaghetti Western? Heck I know that is QT's style, but it seemed well out of place and pace for a French setting. I can see why Waltz received a Golden Globe for his work, chilling doesn't do his character justice.

And, oh yea, I absolutely loved how Tarantino deals with the concept of film critics, if you watch the special features on the DVD he even throws in a line where Goebbels says, "I have forbidden the practice of film criticism!" Folks . . . now THAT is a Nat-zi!

H-Man, I rented this baby last night, and Amadarwin and I screened it. WOW! You were spot on with your review too! Excellent point in that Boal and Bigelow didn't even ATTEMPT at asking if the war was just or unjust. They lead with a quote, "war is a drug" - and the scene where he is frankly discussing "excitement" with his baby is chillingly telling of his characters lust for danger. I agree with Cameron, his ex-wife should have won the GG for best drama, not Fern Gully II, Revenge of the Smurfs!
