Exactly, 3D is hopefully a fad and not a wave of the future, the whole industry needs to grasp reality and stop with all the hype BS and focus on content not quantity of butts in seats.
The scene with the \"cliff hanger\" and the outhouse sex scene dropped my jaw! Just a fun film to watch, which is why I can\'t shut up about it, heh.
I'm such a yank, had to look those dudes up!
I attacked it so much without spoiling stuff, but in my comments, I let the spoilers fly. Yea, I thought at the end it would have been MUCH better if he had died, when Farrel is all choked up, "my mentor and friend wrote this song, I hope you like it" I was thinking, oh, ok, he died, maybe this movie doesn't suck - but then they showed him talking to the incredibly horribly cast MG. I think Susan Sarandon is more his speed, not the young and spirited Gyllenhaal. Right off the bat I was thinking, this is crap, why is she falling for him so quickly? His "charm" - then all the potential for real drama was snuffed out, her kid is found, he doesn't die, his AA meeting was all of two minutes long then flash forward 16 months later and he is hunky dory. Also, they NEVER explained WHY he didn't like Farrell, which irked me to no end. The movie was a bad cliche, only Ishtar could make me more irked . . .
Thanks, Giselle! You rock more! :)
Very thought-provoking film to be sure. And, like you I have never been a big fan of Rockwell, I think his acting credit is partly to blame for that - as I HATED his character in The Green Mile. It's odd, but sometimes actors become the characters so much, you wonder if they are really that SOBish IRL. I heard an interview from the guy who played the villain in Ghost, said he was attacked by a little old lady shortly after the film. Credit to his craft, and I think Rockwell truly is one of those actors that BECOME the character.
And, while I was antsy a few times too, I didn't care, because the "world" of Moon was far too intriguing to bore me, with that whole countdown element thrown in just to tighten the suspense more. Excellent set too, I want to LIVE on that set with Gerty and all! Fun movie for the mind and morally perplexing.
Meh, I laughed seven times, I counted them. Not the worst crap I have seen, and I am a huge LD fan, not a fan of Woodsy the perv though, he is like Freud, thinks too much with his pecker to be taken remotely seriously. Wood always leaves a little more to be desired in all of her performances, so far. A decent renter, but hardly worth the theater ticket price.
Yea, Yelchin had a GREAT 2009 though, sucker was everywhere. It wasn't the best T movie, that would be the original to me, I am a purist I guess.
Saw this last night, and again, I think the writer captured my thoughts on the film perfectly. The second half of this film didn't really correspond with the first, and I hated MG's character - I am no fan of her anyway...except for Secretary, fine piece of work there. But, the comedy takes a back seat too much at the tail end of this film, they should have kept making us laugh all the way to the end. The first scenes are pretty good though.
THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG - ANIMATED & ORIGINAL SONG
See what directors Ron Clements and John Musker had to say about their Oscar Nomination:
"This rare honor is a thrill, not only for us, but for the 400 or more artists who gave so much of their talents in bringing classical hand-drawn Disney animation in (The Princess and the Frog) back to the big screen."
