Very good point...we'll certainly have a better idea of potentially nefarious motives once the remaining documents are released. If they come back a scathing reflection of poor management even under Obama then we can further suspect manipulation (i.e. it could be argued that WikiLeaks was convinced to time the release of the final 15,000 documents to coincide with a political agenda).

I hope to be wrong, because I want to believe in the idea of WikiLeaks.

I agree with Gawker's statement; "It's time to give Wikileaks the Wikileaks treatment—expose it to the same sort of radical transparency it advocates and see what turns up."

Yes. They've only released documents up to December 2009 and claim to be holding another 15,000 as part of a "harm minimization process" as demanded by their source.

It's suspicious that the currently-released documents end the same month that the Obama administration made a critical, strategic decision that was largely controversial. As Salon points out, current information on how the 'surge' is being conducted would certainly affect public opinion about the decision to 'surge' in the first place.

The New York Times editorial staff must read my blog. =) They released an article yesterday strikingly similar to this one, though they don't mention how the constitution protects these individuals (you can't say it's obvious because many people these days don't have as solid an understanding of the Constitution as they should).

They even conclude their article much the same as I do -- by tying this issue to our identity as Americans.

That didn't work for Jamaica or the UK.
