Good comments Comfort. Thanks for sharing the complexity of bringing faith into a decision to vote in this presidential election. I think that many Christians are in the category of FED UP WITH THESE POLITICIANS...especially those twisting our faith into something unchrist-like. You're not alone. I'm undecided as well and thinking through some other options that I'll share over the next few weeks.

I hear you Marla. On my prayer list is finding a way to inexpensively finish the basement so we have designated space to "take in" individuals or families in transition...or just needing a place to stay. Finally getting around to Interrupted.

Praying for you as well.

Concentration is a biggie. I like your idea of taking a list into prayer with you. Glad the Prayer Experience CD is helping.

I believe I did answer the question. The case he referenced is not similar to the case of Trayvon Martin, so it's an apples to oranges discussion at best. At the time of the post, Zimmerman had not been charged with anything and county police believed they adequately investigated the case. There is the injustice and that is how you get outrage from the Black community. Were we talking about a black person murdering a white person, calling it self-defense, and then 30 days later still uncharged...then we'd be having the same conversation.

With regards to leaders of the Black community...that's an old discussion. No one in my generation is looking to one leader. We understand that change will happen through the commitment and persuasion of ordinary people who choose to think and act differently.

Again, this post is about THE CHURCH speaking out against injustice. Try to keep the discussion towards that end.

FYI, Rob and Anon are the same person.

Thanks for finding and commenting on the blog. The case you're referencing is certainly a tragic event. It's another reminder of the sinful and rebellious world we live in and our need for the gospel to turn our hearts to Jesus. While the way in which they were murdered is insidious, the article you referenced does not suggest that racism or bigotry was a factor as in the killing of Trayvon Martin (I assume you'be heard the 911 tapes, but I can't assume that you agree his conversation with the dispatch includes racial overtones and perhaps premeditated murder). Also, the case you refenced ends with the accusers being prosecuted and sentenced, some even given the death penalty. We are STILL waiting for a hint of justice for bringing charges against George Zimmerman and the law enforment that failed to effectively investigate the case at the crime scene.
My final word is that failure to speak against injustice is the greatest crime. This post is about the need for the CHURCH to speak up rather than remain silent on controversial issues surrounding race and class. Happy to dialogue on points that stick with the topic.
