Mac is out of touch and not up on the new offenses. How long would it take him to get up to speed on the new game. Can he be be as effective at age 70 - I don't think so and I speak from experience. You think a man can put in the 70 hour work weeks and keep that pace? Not for long - yeah, heah, I know about Paterno.
What would we look like if he caught his religious fervor again and quit? Let him contribute from an administrative oversight position - leave the X's and O's to Bienemy or one of the other top prospects. Cut the negative talk on radio - we're heading the PAC 10! Do you think their local sports talk put their programs down? Let's get together on this and keep an open mind - in the best interest of the Buffs!

Somehow as I remember the old CU -- Air Force rivalry I just didn't see an ex-AF coach fitting in at CU - water and oil.
Thank goodness Air Force decided to cut CU from the schedule before CU's problems arose - just couldn't handle losing to the zoomies.

Listening to CJ & Klatt today one would think that the only viable candidate is McCartney. I continue to think that Coach Mac would best serve CU in an advisory role and leave the coaching to someone with recent involvement and experience in the game. This is not about old loyalties despite what these two loyal Buff fans would have you believe - "You can't go home again." I say Bienemy is the best candidate. Klatt, your continued negative comments re CU are not exactly helpful to the Buffs - what is your beef with the academic side? CU is not a melting pot but neither is it as unfriendly as some conservative states - Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma? They may cheer for their football heroes there but will they have them over to dinner? Why don't we make the decision about football?

Hey CJ & Klatt,
I gave up on trying to get on your talk show but hope my comments reach you because you guys need some advice. I have been a loyal Buff fan for almost 40 years. Sat there in the bad weather with some 18,000 fans and watched Drake beat CU. I cheered both of you guys on as I have all of the other Buff players for so many years BUT, I want to pick a fight with you - both of you!
Your continued slant in favor of McCartney is getting too obvious. Yes, I guess, Coach Mac should be considered but do all of the conversations have to begin and end with him? Now you're shooting arrows at Chancellor DiStefano because he made some nefarious comment about "recent experience". Shouldn't that be a significant criteria? CU has just survived some dark years and we cannot afford to fail to consider every qualified prospect, including those with recent experience (over McCartney). The game has changed, the players have changed. Yes, we need a coach who teaches character but that is a peripheral issue - We're headed to the PAC 12 - We need a football coach!
What would we do if Coach Mac had another attack of religious fervor and decided to leave the program - again? Boy, would Bohn catch hell then! Mac heard this calling once before and it is still not too far from the surface. Leave him in the proud history he left but lets not cannonize him as the second coming of Mac. We need a football coach with gridiron muck in his fingernails and in his blood.. No religious zealotry needed.
Now, about that slant....
Go Buffs!

Mac changed direction when he left CU. We need a hardcore football guy who has been in the mix , not a guy who lost his passion for the game and became a mega-moralist preacher. What is wrong with Bienemy - he never left the game and could certainly relate/recruit with credibility and fire. We need a long-term solution, not a man who changed careers and now wants to revisit old glory. Yeah, I know, I better get my shield out.

Kiesau has given CU no reason to keep him on. Hawkins wasn't alone in this fiasco.

We need a coach that will be there for the duration, not a few years - Woelk called it, CJ & kLATT seem to have tunnel vision (coach Mac).
Memo to CJ & Klatt: "Search" as defined in Webster's is "To look...explore...examine..." Nowhere does it default to a coach from the past. Also, enough of the negative comments re the situation at CU. Would you rather make $150,000 at Ames, Iowa, Lincoln, NE or Normal, Oklahoma or $100,000 in Boulder? When is the last time you stepped outside and looked at the Flatirons and enjoyed the weather?
If Bienemy is the guy (I say great!) why should he be under Mac? I say Bienemy with Cabral getting a promotion too. Leave Mac in the record books.

Too much talk about coach Mac and Logan. Coach Mac's heyday was some 20 years ago. Logan, while a wildly successful h.s. coach has, to my knowledge, never recruited at the college level and Div. I football is a world away from h.s. football. CU just went through a dark period - I agree that a well thought out search across the country is in order. The candidate with the best current experience in the pros or Div. I football should be considered. Leave the emotional regional and past history out of it. CU needs to hit the PAC 12 UNDER THE BEST POSSIBLE conditions.

We will always appreciate and remember what coach Mac did for CU but that was almost 20 years ago. Division I football requires 60 - 70 hour weeks and boundless energy. I say leave the past to memory. I am all for Bienemy, Cabral or some OC who is in a good program now. Both Bienemy and Cabral have Black and Gold fire in the belly. Surely there are other candidates who can be considered. "You can't go home again." -CU cannot afford another experience like we just lived through.

Still taking arrows over my preference for Leach or the Oregon OC. Think I will sit on the sidelines on them now. But remain concerned over McCartney's age and time away from the game. CU can still offer some good assistant a good home and Boulder is a #1 city to live in with a great lifestyle and a beautiful campus to recruit to. I bleed Black and Gold so will let you younger minds select the coach - no more mistakes! There are first-year coaches out there who have turned programs around in a very short time. The PAC 12 affiliation is Golden!
Go Buffs! Good luck Hawkins - hope you enjoy the bus ride out of town - the fans sure will = we might even wave goodbye.
