You're both right. The Fox Memorial Clinic is part of the Connecticut Humane Society. A check made out to either will work.
Because if we ALL loved our neighbors, then there wouldn't be a Klan.
I appreciate your technical legal explanations. It helps me understand why such rulings are made. I don't want my knees to jerk. Do you have legal training?
I wanted to respond to the Catholic priest that wrote a piece. At the end he was trying to explain to kindergardeners why women can't be priests. To paraphrase he told a story how Bob and Alice were in a play as husband and wife. They practiced and were very good, but on opening night Bob got sick. Suzie was just as good an actor as Bob. So why couldn't Suzie play the husband. Of course the kids said that husbands are men and Suzie was a woman. So Mr Priest says that's why women can't be priests. That's where I wanted to say..."Priests are married to God, so God must be a WOMAN!!!" I won't go into the other option.
There were several unconnected allegations against him. And while he may have been found "not guilty" that's not the same as innocent. It just means that the state didn't have enough evidence to convict. At least that's in the US (Canadian mileage may vary - but I doubt it's that far off)
The way I see it, airline pilots, acupuncturists, doctors, lawyers, school bus drivers and such are not the same as the business owners and the license to operate those businesses. If I were to open a medical practice and employ a doctor, nurses and medical assistants, I would not have to have a medical license to do so, just a business license. The individual practicioner would have to keep up his or her own license to practice. The ordinances in question are not fairly licensing businesses, they are pushing a political agenda. The fraud laws are very adequate to handle the true legalities of this.
However, it is the employer that is requiring the background checks and fingerprints of an employee, not the government requiring the employer/business owner to submit. There is a very discinct difference. One is discriminatory government practice applied to one type of business and the other is a common private pre-hire business practice applied to all applicants.
Frankly I deplore all the specialty plates. It doesn't matter what they're for! Here in Connecticut, we have ones that are supposed to be for Pets, to help with low/no cost spay/neuter. I can't see where the funds are going! I can't see where all the extra funds for these plates benefit the supposed cause. Liscense plates are identification of cars, so you know who hit you and took off. It used to be that I could look at a plate and instantly tell what state it was from just by it's color pattern. CT was navy blue background with white lettering, NY was a goldenrod back with navy lettering, MA was white back with red lettering, etc. Now with all the funky plates I don't know which is which anymore. The specialty plates defeat the purpose of plates.
Satan is all evil? I remember watching a PBS program with Joseph Campbell describing Lucifer. Lucifer was God's highest angel. Lucifer loved God completely and would only serve him. Then God created man and told Lucifer to serve man. Lucifer couldn't serve anyone before God. For Lucifer's disobedience God cast him out. Lucifer's only "crime" was that he loved God too much. Could he really be all evil then? This is the basis of Christian mythology. I think that the judge better check up on his facts of the origins of "Christian doctrine"
If you believe in reincarnation, then maybe he's one of the Obas who were involved in the slave trades to the Americas long ago and saw the horror that became of that and is making amends. Or it could just be that the current Oba has learned from history. Like I've heard...those who refuse to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
