I wonder what a hockey game would be like on slushy ice?

I also wonder if there could be a Winter Classic where the idea of a hockey game being held in warm climate could be a bigger draw than the hockey game itself, leading to hordes of fans being there and generally blabbing away instead of watching the (inevitable) Pittsburgh Penguins vs. WHOEVER going on.

The Winter Classic hasn't had Pittsburgh involved for the last 2 years. Bettman is getting nervous.

It's a rather suggestive picture isn't it? Brown could be making that face at the Coyote bench because of the hit or he could be responding to what they're saying or calling him or he could just be making a face as the "Before" picture for some teeth repair service.

All in all, Rosival did a lot of diving for the Coyotes and Brown did the same for the Kings. Neither impressed me all that much.

I think the AHA will get UAH based upon the previous history of AHA taking basically anyone they can that nearly fits their geographic footprint. I say nearly because no one can look me in the eyes and say that Air Force fits their geographical footprint while keeping a straight face.

I don't know what the WCHA is going to do but after this year, I don't care what they do either.

So Saunders will become the tallest goaltender in UND history.

Do you know who will be second to Saunders?

Yup. Zane Gothberg.

Previous tallest goaltender goes to a tie between Anthony Grieco and Toby Kvalevog who were both 6'1.

Actually college hockey is well represented on both teams. Here are the lists of NCAA players (other than the ones already mentioned) on both teams:

OKC: Tyler Pitlick (MSUM), Andrew Lord (RPI), Tanner House (Maine), Mark Arcobello (Yale), Dan Ringwald (RIT), Ryan Lowery (CC), Kevin Montgomery (tOSU), Yann Danis (Brown), David LeNeuveau (Cornell)

TOR: Spencer Abbott (Maine), Jeff Finger (SCSU), Josh Engel (UW), Will Acton (LSSU), Matt Caruana (Niagara), Martens (BSU)

I think that's it, but I'm typing while exhausted so I might have missed a few.

To add:

One other thing: Shanny may still be a bit green behind the ears in all of this and when that happens, it undercuts self-confidence and opens up a person, regardless of stature and acumen, to undue influence or "loss of backbone" usually towards authority. In other words, Shanny is trying to tread a line that both sides of the issue are trying to push or pull him towards either side.

It sounds apologistic for sure, but the answer will come next season. If Shanny's consistency does not improve or it fails to improve and proof shows up that shows that Shanny's not the one with the ultimate authority in the areas he's said to have such authority, then it's open season and we can watch the NHL disintegrate completely.

Last thought, Shanny's the ass end of a pig (with Bettman as its head). You can have the PR department dress up the NHL Front Office (the "whole pig") any way you want but at the end of the day you're still left with two things: 1. The pig. 2. A lot of pig poop.

I disagree with part of what you said. I disagree that the Flyers fans have a valid argument. They aren't arguing that Shanahan was inconsistent (in these tweets anyways). They're arguing that Shanahan's suspension of Giroux led to the loss of the game and the Flyers ouster from the post season. That is false.

Shanahan's inconsistency was very saddening to me as I've always been a fan of Shanahan since his playing days with Detroit. If Goon's right and Shanny has to act the messenger at times, then it explains a lot and puts into question why Shanny is even in the position he is if Campbell or even Bettman is the one making the decisions on supplemental discipline.

I do agree though with the fact about the video reviews. I thought they'd be helpful and I do still think they are. The application however, is lacking consistency.

By the way, why is "Anton Volchenko" tagged in this story?
