Every time this guy opens his mouth, I recommit to buying an old 70s or 80s pickup with a carburetor.

That was exactly my thought when I read the outline: Pearl Harbor.

Hey, it's like that shirt says---I'd rather be a conservative nutjob than a liberal with no nuts and no job

"Substance", huh? Please. I can find an article that says anything I want it to on Wikipedia. Let the guy play his ping-pong, Drew; no point arguing on the Internet. At the end of the day we're all still watching Fox, so he loses.

Amen. They won't be able to keep getting away with corrupting our entertainment if we don't watch it.

I can say all day long that the sky is fire-engine red at high noon, but that won't change that fact that it's blue on a clear day.

Likewise they can call marriage a "right" all they want, but that won't change the fact that they're building themselves on a foundation of packing peanuts and cellophane.

Hahahaha reminds me of an article I read in a college newspaper earlier this year. This girl wanted people to stop using the word "fag", and goes off about how bad name-calling is. Then she ends her article by throwing a couple of bad names at people who use that word.

Amen that. The Declaration of Independence is pretty clear about rights coming from our Creator. The Courts are only there to define the application of the standing law with respect to incidents on a case-by-case basis. The court doesn't grant rights--it doesn't have that power, and it certainly doesn't have the power to alter or destroy an institution which it itself never created in the first place.

Furthermore, the radical idea that marriage is a "civil right" is really destructive to the whole cause of the anti Prop 8 group. Marriage isn't a civil right, it's a secular institution. The gov't only has its hand in it to litigate when obligations of spousal or child dependency aren't being met. And in order to have that power, they just need to officially recognize marriages (man and woman.)

Hey Polacko, come on...we're all friends here. I'm Mormon myself (sometimes I say LDS, sometimes I don't, whatever). TBM is on a strange crusade here.

Guys, guys, guys--we're getting off track here. Whether they call us Mormons or LDS or what have you (I'm a member myself)--is a matter of technicality.

Kadaka, the first line of your statement was right. Whatever appellate we have, denomination-wise, is a post-it note on our Christianity. Catholics believe the Church was built on Peter, Lutherans believe the Church needed reformation, Baptists focus on that ordinance, and Mormons believe in restoration and continued revelation. Obviously we all think we're right, so let's follow our conscience and the Spirit, and let Him sort it out on the other side.

Let's not get into accusing each other of playing the persecuted--all Christianity, and for that all religion, is under attack. I am opposed to numerous practices and ideals of Scientology (to say nothing of the fact that Battlefield Earth sucked, but that's another story), but I'm not going to go around bashing it for people. Everyone is smart enough to make up their own mind.
