A civil confrontation was probably out of possibility. As long as some people find obvious argumentative fallacies as a viable form of discourse, there is no unity possible.

I am shocked that so many people are willing to believe the most ridiculous things about Ron Paul simply because of their political orientation.

Ron Paul thinks we shouldn't be GIVING money to Israel; we should be trading with them.
Therefore he is an anti-Semite?

Therefore he is a racist?

Therefore he isn't a conservative
(as though the sole qualifier for Conservativism is the absences of federal funds in one's district.)

Ron Paul is by far the most classically liberal (pre-FDR definition of the term) politician on the political landscape of America. It is his ideology of classical liberalism that "Conservatives" have been attempting to conserve for 100 years now. Speaking economically, socially and internationally he is the purest representation of the liberalism of the 19th century. Instead of endorsement by the so called "conservatives" he gets ridiculed.

Is it really that bad of a thing, if homosexuals wish for smaller non intrusive government and have no social agenda then why not allow them to show their support? If you want the same for government and have a social agenda, why not agree where you agree and disagree where you disagree? Why the languages full of contempt rather than love? I personally believe in Jesus Christ but I do not think conversion comes from coercion, nor guilt from my words. If we agree on the nature of government why allow other things get in the way of our shared political values?

Just a bunch of old conservatives being all pissed off about the people who don't care anymore about social conservatism anymore. I would think enlightened people as they are that they would be a little more accomidating and in favor of political allies. Economics is always upstream of culture.
