DFU or recovery mode? I'm curious if tinyumbrella will still kick it out for you.

Haven't been on this site in a while, but thought I would check it out. Not sure if this has already been posted but iClarified has a tutorial for updating to 4.1 without updating baseband using tinyumbrella. This is for iP4 only, but it worked to get mine done since I don't have a mac and I don't really trust the custom ipsw's found by searching the net. Hope it helps.

9.2.+? So iTunes 9.2.1 has been deemed safe?

Make sure you have stored your SHSH's before you restore, though.

I believe it now has to be activated with your locked carrier's card before you can jailbreak it. That is unless you have SHSH on file and can downgrade back to previous version that works with redsn0w. (Tutorials on iclarified) Then you can use redsn0w. I'm working from memory - reading here. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong.

I gotta hear this story. How exactly did you ACCIDENTALLY update a 3GS through iTunes to 3.1.3? Not trying to be a smart ass. I'm wondering how this is possible.

I was kind of wondering that myself. I gotta hear this story.

It would have to be an AT&T card. As far as where to get a phonebook sim, people are saying Radio Shack. I can't say from any experience, as I've been using AT&T all along so I've had no need of it.
