Hollywood will not change as long as the income supports it at all. They won't change because they have an agenda; it's the same agenda as the major news media, public education, and most Universities. It is being orchestrated in part, and subsidized in larger part, by a larger pool of money and progressive "thinkers" who are bent on transforming America. The one thing anyone can do is to stop going and watching. Sounds good, but it won't happen. See, everyone here knows how bad it is getting because they have gone to see the crap anyway.

One thing that does work: Get hooked on old movies, and be very selective of new movies you watch. I know this works because it works for me. Sure, I'm clueless about new movies and most modern actors, but I know all of the cool inside stories about the Jimmy Stewarts, Robert Mitchums and Myrna Loys related by Bob Osborne on TCM. There is a whole lifetime of movie viewing out there, filmed before modern agendas. Go Film Noir, baby.

God, human beings are sooo polarized. You name the subject, and like a boxing ring watch everyone go to far corners. What we need is a good alien invasion to solve some of our problems.

I am another conservative voice out here screaming that we DO need to find some reasonable way to limit population growth, and NOW. We are already completely unmanageable as a species my friends, and for me, it has nothing to do with global warming or building a house on top of an endangered worm or something. From space, our cities look like boils of maggots.

Simple changes in the tax laws would probably be enough. The fact that we give increasing exemptions for more and more children, who then become burdens on those with LESS children, makes exactly as much sense as Obama "spending our way" out of a recession.

I say, give tax exemptions for couples having up to two children, (encouraging families) but the third child wipes out 1 1/2 of the first two exemptions. Your fourth child has you paying MORE taxes, with appropriate increases beyond. Hit people in their wallets, and you'll be amazed at the increase in responsible planning. Condom sales will skyrocket, and the innovative "double condom" will be invented.

When Vidal dies day after tomorrow, I hope he isn't cremated. I am saving up a fitting tribute to his life, to lay upon his headstone. My dogs add to the volume of the tribute every morning on their walk.

Whoever bails out the rags will have them in their pockets— even more so. Government, Soros types, whoever will then have their own private true Pravda in the US. I say that if Government bails ANYONE out again, or goes against public desire, (at least until we reign Washington in), we just stop sending taxes. Increase your exemptions to 40 if you are employed; file for extensions if you're self-employed or a business owner, and see if it gets their attention having no money coming in.

What has been needed, is still needed, and will ALWAYS be needed is parental freedom to choose schools. Everyone knows that competition breeds excellence, socialism breeds lazy Wards of the state, period. Washington control freaks will have to be dragged to a voucher system though, because it's not about schools and children succeeding, it's about maintaining control.

Now the "F" for failed public school system can't even keep its doors open. Just one more reason in a list of hundreds to prepare yourself to answer the call when it's made, to assemble by the 10s of millions in Washington, and refuse to get up and leave until they all resign in disgrace.

I actually support your charging for newspapers online there Rupert. I'm willing to pay a subscription fee for GOOD journalism. I would rather do that than not pay good salaries for good journalists. There's not enough room on one computer screen to support enough ads, unless it becomes more of a nightmare than it already is.

Now... about that good journalist part... THAT will tell whether I give you my credit card number.
