Are we quoting single individuals now? The Hamas charter accepts a 2-state solution. The Likud charter calls for wiping out all Palestinians west of the Jordan river. The difference between single individuals and the Israeli government is that Israel has the means to do it, and has been making steady progress for over a generation. Why are you talking about what single individuals want to do - I'm talking about what a government IS DOING.

Here's some quotes for you. Israel is not acting in self-defense and the entire rest of the world outside of the US knows it.

“We must blow Gaza back to the Middle Ages, destroying all the infrastructure including roads and water.”
- Israel Deputy Prime Minister Eli Yishai

"The future is bleak. It's dark, the future. Where does it lead? To a change in the people's character. Because if you put most of our young people in the army, they'll see a paradox. They'll see that it strived to be a people's army, like the Nahal unit, involved in building up the country. On the other hand, it's a brutal occupation force, similar to the Germans in World War II. Similar, not identical. And I'm not talking about their behavior toward the Jews. That was exceptional, with its own particular characteristics. I mean how they acted to the Poles, the Belgians, the Dutch, to all of them, the Czechs. It's a very negative trait that we acquired... We've become cruel, to ourselves as well, but mainly to the occupied population, using the excuse of the war against terror."
-Avraham Shalom, Head of the Shin Bet 1980-1986

"[Israel] must see the sword as the main, if not the only, instrument with which to keep its morale high and to retain its moral tension. Toward this end it may, no—it must—invent dangers, and to do this it must adopt the method of provocation-and-revenge...And above all—let us hope for a new war with the Arab countries, so that we may finally get rid of our troubles and acquire our space."
-Moshe Dayan, quoted in Israeli Prime Minister Moshe Sharatt's personal diaries

"They (Israeli kibbutz residents and future settlers) didn't even try to hide their greed for the land...We would send a tractor to plow some area where it wasn't possible to do anything, in the demilitarized area, and knew in advance that the Syrians would start to shoot. If they didn't shoot, we would tell the tractor to advance further, until in the end the Syrians would get annoyed and shoot. And then we would use artillery and later the air force also, and that's how it was...The Syrians, on the fourth day of the war, were not a threat to us.'"
-Moshe Dayan, Defense Minister in 1967

"In June 1967, we again had a choice. The Egyptian Army concentrations in the Sinai approaches do not prove that Nasser was really about to attack us. We must be honest with ourselves. We decided to attack him."
-Menachem Begin, former Israeli Prime Minister

"I do not think Nasser wanted war. The two divisions he sent to The Sinai would not have been sufficient to launch an offensive war. He knew it and we knew it."
-Yitzhak Rabin, Israel's Chief of Staff in 1967

"Gave it to Palestinians" meaning they maintained a total siege, not allowing anything to pass, not even hummus with peppers in it. They didn't give it to the Palestinians. And "give it" ? It wasn't theirs to give. Hamas didn't break the cease-fires that started in November 2005, Israel did, each and every one, and that's openly acknowledged in Israel.

I think that is a straw-man argument. Nobody is trying to take control of all of Israel, and "wipe it off the map" is not a quote that comes from any Palestinian organization. It is, however, something that mainstream Israeli groups like Likud say about Palestinian land. Even Hamas has accepted a 2-state solution, which includes "recognizing Israel" (a silly but constant demand - England has never declared that it recognized the United States).

And it's pretty hard to have a stable government when you're under foreign occupation and your leadership is constantly being murdered. Israel deserves to live in peace, but their policies are not self-defense. They need to get back to their own borders.

That being said, it is stupid to vandalize a Jewish community center, but I am skeptical that it had anything to do with criticism of Israel's policies.
