This is already answered in this post. You can only do it by creating a custom IPSW file with PwnageTool once it's released. It'll be released in the summer when the official firmware is out.

It may be possible to downgrade from the beta version of OS 3.0 to firmware 2.2 by putting your iPhone in DFU mode, but I haven't been able to confirm this. The installation notes say that you can't.

It's not selfish at all. Only developers can access the beta firmware and they're not allowed to distribute it. Besides, the install notes for firmware 3.0 say the following:
"By installing iPhone OS 3.0 beta software on your Authorized Test Devices, these Devices are permanently “locked” into testing mode and cannot be restored to earlier versions of iPhone OS. "

If you want an unlocked iPhone 3 with yellowsn0w your baseband must be 02.28. If you update your baseband along with the firmware then your iPhone will be permanently locked. There is a way to upgrade to fimware 3.0 but keep the 02.28 baseband through PwnageTool but you'll just have to wait until the summer for the jailbreak and guides to be released.

I agree with what you said matthawke, it's really nice of the iPhone Dev-Team to do all this for us free of charge. They've played a big role in the iPhone community and we should all appreciate what they've done for us.

Jailbreaks are only released when the official firmware is out so you will need to wait until sometime in the summer when the official iPhone 3.0 and iPod Touch 3.0 firmware is out.

Only people in the iPhone Dev Center program have access to it and they're not allowed to distribute it to those who don't. You may be able to find a torrent but I recommend you wait until it's out of beta. It's really just out for developers right now so they can test it on their apps and practice with the new SDK software.

The iPhone Dev-Team have always released a jailbreak for every firmware update and I'm sure they will be releasing a jailbreak for the next OS as well. They don't release jailbreaks for betas so you'll have to wait until the official firmware is released sometime in the summer.
