Hi Lucy,

Thanks for the note. I am not sure how a commercial that uses catchy music (with lyrics that happens to be in Spanish) is an allegory for illegal residents in the USA, but OK, that is how you see it.

And as for "Who asked you for your opinion" ... well, I did. It says so right up there in the header "Reviews, Songs & Music" so that pretty much covers all the bases. ;)

(After all, most blogs are about opinion, right?)

But you have every right to express yours here, and I welcome it, so thanks for commenting. It is very interesting to see how one commercial could cause so much debate!

Hi Linda,
Are you saying you won\'t shop at Target just because they used a :30 song that had Spanish lyrics? I think they chose it because it was fun and catchy (and yes, annoying). But (and this is an old example, but go with me here) what if Target had selected \"Gangnam Style?\" It isn\'t in English but is also very catchy, would you still feel the same way?

You are probably right. And now I see the comments aren\'t showing up. I\'ll have to fix that, and I appreciate your contribution. Yes, I guess now that we have wikipedia our hard work isn\'t as appreciated. But it was pretty cool at the time!

@YesNut, you are right - we (original) MTV generation were reeled in by snazzy videos, but the music had to be good too. I remember buying that LP (still have it) and digging every track.

Of course, many of the producers went on to form Art of Noise and their form of music really got me excited. So as the Fixx would say - one thing leads to another
