The point of the entire post was simply this...politicians need to get the heck outta the way of fighting this war. Spending the generals time on something as silly as this goes to show what a waste this Congress has become.

As for your collective punishment argument, thats silly. Democratically elected Hamas (who has publicly declared war on Israel) has continually launched rockets into southern Israel, aimed at women and children. Hence, Israel (who is at war with Democratically elected Hamas) has imposed a military blockade (with the aid of Egypt i might add) on the Gaza strip to prevent Iran, Syria and other supporters from smuggling in more rockets. You need to look past the Huffington Post, Daily Kos and NY Times if you want facts about the world around you. Wake up, its really not that hard to figure out.

Also, Gaza is NOT under an illegal occupation by Israel, since they pulled out of there last year. However, the Gazan terrorist government Hamas has continued to launch rockets into Israel at women and children. Just a simple fact. The blockade is a perfectly legal (since you invoke the GC, which surely you know nothing about) military reaction to blatant acts of war against Israel.
I love it when your ignorant type-set post comments here...it reminds me why i continue to run this blog so blithering idiots and the uninformed can stand a chance in this world.

I took the bait and went and read your recent post "why would I want to travel to Arizona".
It seems you fall into the same category as our esteemed Attorney General Eric Holder who has not bothered to make himself familiar with the legislation in question.
"First, they sign a law that will force local police to investigate deporting Latino US citizens who don't carry their birth certificates around (as if white people are expected to do that). Then, those lunatics go after ethnic studies. What's next? Are they going to add a swastika to their state flag?"
Where to even begin. First rule of debate, he who randomly and arbitrarily invokes the term "Nazi" loses. You clearly have no grasp of what the Nazi's were even about, otherwise you would have stuffed that statement back in the hole it came from. Secondly, the bill has nothing to do with "investigating deporting American citizens". Thats insane. Mr Homo, do you carry a drivers license or picture ID as REQUIRED by law?? Well, any Hispanic American citizen in AZ would show that piece of ID, should they say get pulled over for not stopping at a stop sign, and that would be the end of the so-called "investigation". However, non-US citizens would have to show their papers (as required by the apparently racist FEDERAL statute). Failure to carry the proper paperwork is ALREADY a violation of the federal immigration laws, and therefore the alien in question would be taken into custody, at which point a further investigation of his status would be undertaken.
Had you done your research on the "ethnic studies" that were targetted by the state, you would have seen that those are classes that teach the overthrow of the United States. Not really ethnic studies as much as revolutionary studies. Are you ok with that Mr. Homo?
As for the poll itself, certainly online polls are not completely scientific. Nowhere did I ever suggest such a thing. But they are however a good gauge on your readership opinions. The LA Times readers overwhelmingly think that their city leadership fumbled on this one, or for those who are not from LA, they overwhelmingly feel that pitting an American city against an American state is not only morally reprehensible, but also may just be illegal.
Exit question: Are you not profiling white people and the state of Arizona with your irresponsible comments? Profiling is SO wrong you say...but you engage in the behavior you decry. That is the hypocrisy of the left, and that is why you are detestable to the majority of Americans.

It amazes me the logic being bandied around on the left that this is somehow an unconstitutional state law. Its ludicrous to think that illegal immigrants should be allowed to continue in their illegal behavior. Federal disregard does not trump state law, no matter how much the left (and even some on the political right I am finding) wants to believe it. I am viewing this bill as the state finally stepping in and forcing the hand of the federal government to act on its own law, which can only be a good thing for citizens who believe in law and order. The State of Arizona is paying a heavy price at the hands of this thrust of illegal residents, to the detriment of her legal US citizens.
Politics has played a leading role in this issue for far too long, its about time someone did the politically dangerous move of doing the right thing. Thank you Jan Brewer, and Congressman please stand firm with her on this!
