None of her LGBT friends knew "tranny" was offensive, yet somehow someone thinks it is. Huh? I am not going to worry too much since I can not think of an instance where I ever had to use the full word or its slang equivalent.

I think the public understands that the only reason they had Bristol on the show was to embarass her mother and make fun of a Palin in a venue that encouages making fun of contestants. They don't like that and they used their voting privilege to show their dislike. Jennifer should win and I think she will win.

Good grief. There aren't even any documented, let alone anecdotal, cases of anyone overdosing on pot. It has been in use for thousands of years. It was legal in the US until the alcohol lobby got it reclassified as a Sched I drug equivalent to heroin back in the 30s. Ridiculous.
I'm not saying that I want people high on the job or on the road, but I don't want them out there on alcohol or many of the legal prescribed drugs either. The first time marijuana was recommended to me, I had just had to have half my stomach removed and every single pain killer prescribed made me violently ill. I lived in a state where a single joint could put you in prison for 10 years. This was 23 years ago on the East Coast. My doctor said, "You didn't hear this from me, but my advice is to find some pot and roll a joint, it is a natural substance, and we (meaning the medical community) know that is very effective at combating nausea and pain."
When I fractured all 5 of my lumbar vertebrae and had no health insurance, I paid $60 to go to the local walk-in general practitioner clinic to beg for something for the pain. When the doctor found out that I'd been self-medicating with up to 24 Advil a day, he looked like he was going to be sick. He lambasted me for being on the road to complete kidney failure. Then he said that since past experience has shown I couldn't take the standard prescribed pain meds nor could I afford to pay full price (no insurance) to fill prescriptions, he suggested that a particular strain of pot was the best for me since it didn't give a head high, but was great for a body high that would help my pain and also relax the muscles so I could move better and actually get a full night's sleep. These weren't pot doctors. These were doctors in 3 different states who all recognize the medical relief and efficacy of marijuana.
Although I came of age during the height of the hippie movement, I was never interested being way too straight-laced as well as married to a career military man. So now I'm at retirement age and forced to admit that I was in my mid to late 40s before I saw marijuana in person or found out anyone I knew was using or had used it. So although I'm an aging Boomer, I am definitely not an aging hippie. I am, however, a strong supporter of medical marijuana.

The measure went down because it was a tax measure. No one here wants more taxes.
Marijuana for medical purposes is already legal. For everyone else it is a minor infraction, not even as serious as a jay walking ticket. From a legalizing point of view, it was unnecessary.
I located and called over 150 MM clinics before the election and only one was pro Prop 19. All the rest said it was designed to put more money in state coffers and raise the price, just like they do with cigs and gas.
