I live in a rural area of upstate NY, and I can get to 5 Post Offices within about 10~12 minutes. Of those 5, 2 are in small "sub-villages" of larger villages. The one that delivers my mail is the most distant. (My ZIP code is a completely different town from where I pay my property taxes.) In one area town, they still have carriers delivering mail to houses on foot. Each house has their mailbox on the house, instead of at the street. They take *hours* to do what could be done in 1/4 the time (or less) by vehicle, and take multiple carriers to do the same amount of work.
