@destardi... You are correct that both political parties do whatever they can to control their message but what you are overlooking is the media bias that allows Obama to get away with much more than Bush ever could. As many of these posts attest, if CBS had *anything* embarrassing on Bush they wouldn't hesitate for a second to broadcast it as widely as possible. In fact, as we all know with the Dan Rather incident, they are above even making up fact to make their enemies (i.e. Repubs) look bad.

Before everyone starts ranting about how I claimed men are superior to women in my last post, please read my statement again. The *competition* in women's leagues, in every sport, is inferior to competition in *open* leagues (in which everyone, including women, are also allowed to compete). Women have plenty of wonderful traits but it is only fair to recognize men for their strengths too... and one of their strengths is... strength... another is speed... and quick reflexes.

So go ahead and play in your sexist 'womens only' league and be happy that, because no one really wants to watch you play, there is not money to be earned doing it. This means that the people playing the game do it because they love the game and no silly hermaphrodite is going to want to come spoil your fun.

The bottom line is that there should be an 'open' category for competition and, for the most part, that's the only category that really counts. The biggest, fastest, strongest, most nimble, etc. Who cares if it is a man or a woman doing it.

I'm not saying there can't be, for example, a women's league in various sports, or even a white guys basketball league, but these leagues should be recognized for what they are... inferior and generally boring to watch.

Irrespective of poll numbers, however, it is a blatant fact that the bill that just passed the House is a complete mess and a huge mistake. Even many liberals didn't vote for it and the ones that did said things like "Well, it is a bad bill but it is the best that we can do at this time." or, my favorite "Yes, as a bill it does suck but if we don't pass the bill it will hurt Obama's image." Better to screw 300 million Americans than embarrass the president.

People say that the victory was a highly partisan victory because not a single Republican in the House or Senate voted for the final bill. However, I think it is more illuminating to point out that *opposition* to the bill was highly *bipartisan* with many Democrats joining with the Republicans to vote against the bill.

Hmmm... not really sure what your post has to do with the article but it sounds like you are trying to justify the passage of this monstrosity of a health care bill by implying that a (very old) Rasmussen poll shows the people support it.

Of course, if you just look at what *you* claim they said they supported then the discrepancy is clear. Even today, very large numbers of Americans (I believe a majority, just like the above Rasmussen poll says) support *some* form of health care reform, which is all that Obama every ran on. However, a large majority of Americans, for some time now, have not supported the Health Care Reform bills that have been working their way through Congress for the past year.

You are an idiot.

If it really is between the girl and her Mom (and I, like you, believe that is the goal) then why did the school counsel her to have an abortion, make the appointment for the abortion, give her a pass to allow her to leave the school during school hours, arrange transportation for the abortion, and do the necessary paperwork to pay for the abortion?

Not only does the Mom have the right to be mad but if she went to the school with an AK47 and blew away everyone in that 'Swedish Medical Center' and I were on the jury when she was tried, I would let her off the hook.

You make a good point. The Hyde amendment (which was trampled on in the recently passed... and one hopes soon to be repealed... health care bill) does not allow federal funds to pay for abortions. However, federal funds can pay to open up a 'Womens Health Clinc' to provide contraceptives and reproductive 'counselling'. Once this health clinic is opened it can use state and local funds to hire an abortion doctor to do abortions. So, indirectly, federal money does subsudize abortions.

I like it whan someone does such a good job of highlighting the absurdity of such situations. Nicely done 'Jim_in_cal'.

Let's just assume that everyone, the school and the parents, did the right thing up to the point that this girl got pregnent. We have no reason to assume otherwise and doing so just confuses the issue. So, assuming that, then I don't understand how *anyone* can think that a *school* has the right to, effectively, give a child an abortion without even informing the parents! When I hear people justify this by pointing out that it is 'legal'... I mean, how stupid is that. I don't care that it is legal... everyone *knows* this is wrong. If it is legal then this should be a wakeup call to *everyone* to overthrow whatever government it was that allowed this to become legal. They *clearly* are no looking out for the best interests of their citizens.

While in middle school my daughter sprained her ankle and the doctor suggested she take ibuprofen during the day to ease the pain. Her school required me to purchase a new, unopened bottle of ibuprofen and personally bring it to the front office with written authorization from my doctor that she could take this over-the-counter medication.

Yet they would give my daughter an abortion without saying a word to me.

It is a key indication of a completely socialistic state when a representative of the government feels that your children belong, not to you, but to them. When they feel that their responsibility to take care of and provide for my daughter superceeds my responsibility to do the same then you know we are screwed.
