I agree that parental supervision is key, and that being overly restrictive in what you expose your child to can be detrimental by not allowing your child to internalize ideas such as "there is evil in the world" and "life isn't always fair". That said, stories have always been used to convey morals and teach values. I commend the developers of these books for providing materials which parents can feel confident providing to their children. Think of it as a tool in the parents toolbox.

Sure it's balanced... it increases spending and raises taxes.

This is classic strategy, if you can't win an argument on its merits then reframe the debate in terms favorable to you.

If the GOP doesn't aggressively attack this with ridicule and by denouncing the obvious disingenuousness of this statement, they're idiots.

Oh, and I didn't hear the details of the plan, but where did they come up with another $360 billion in health care cuts? The only cuts they proposed previously was $500 billion from Medicare. Did they go back to that same well, or what this the typical mythical cut they usually offer?

Yeah and I seem to recall hearing he won Iowa too, and that he was going to win big in South Carolina. I'd wait until the votes are counted before pronouncing victory, particularly of the whole nomination.

So the paper reprints a libelous statement which they previously printed just a few months earlier and subsequently posted a retraction for... and you think the judge will summarily dismiss the case? I don't think so.

Besides, I'm sure the paper is eager to go into court and argue that they are just inept at getting their facts straight, even when they've previously had to make a previous retraction about the same 'fact'.

Well, Arlene cited a specific quote so she wasn't lieing. Given that the quote you cited doesn't include mention of beastiality, it's pretty difficult to believe that the attacks on Santorum were based on it rather than the quote Arlene cited. There is a big difference between claiming Santorum believes homosexual sex is wrong (an opinion he doesn't hide), and claiming he things homosexual sex is just as abhorent as bestiality.

I think most people would agree that shoplifting a candybar is wrong, and that murdering someone is wrong. But it is obviously ludicrous to conclude that anyone who believes they are both wrong thinks they are in any way equivalent.

What she obviously meant was there aren't enough blacks in Iowa. She undoubtedly believes that blacks will vote disproptionately for Obama again this election despite his record.

Maybe you have a problem with reading comprehension, so I'll try and explain it so you can understand...

Obama's campaign claims publicly they don't accept money from lobbyists, and in fact are funding the campaign through $3-$5 individual donations. The reality, which you apparently admit to given your comments above, is that the campaign is funded by big money donations. Thus, the Obama campaign is caught in an outright lie. But I forget, lieing never seems to be a concern to those who support Democrats.

Actually, if you read the article you'll find this one is covered under the agreement passed last Summer, it happens automatically unless the Congress votes it down (and then the President can veto that vote). Not going to be a big fight this time.

But, I expect there will be a big fight when the administration spends all of this increase before the election and has to ask for another debt ceiling increase. And when that happens they should be hammered.

I have no doubt that is Paul's general position on going to war but it is NOT what he said when asked this question. If that was what he meant he could have said that had Congress thought that was a good idea to declare war that he would have supported it. Instead he was obviously answering whether he thought it was the right thing to do, and he said in his opinion it wouldn't be. You can agree or disagree with that opinion but don't try to dodge the fact he gave a straightforward answer which some people will strongly disagree with.

Respectfully, I think you are misinterpreting what people mean when they rail against Islam. It isn't about making everyone a Christian. Most Christians don't feel any animus toward people who follow other religions in general. I certainly don't hear Christains (in general) railing against Judaism, Buddism, Taoism, Hindu, Janeism, Zoroastrianism or any number of other religions, and saying that adherents to those religions are potentially dangerous due to their religion.

On the flip side, you don't have to be Christian to view the tenets of Islam along with its practical application over a large percentage of the globe to see Islam as a threat to non-Islamic people and societies. The 'religion of peace' as they try to sell themselves, preaches world domination through violent means when non-violent means have failed to produce the same result.
