What would it take to get you to Boise? (Or could we talk you into video coverage of your Boulder talk?)

Love the blog -- Happy 2010!

Actually, I'll probably just try to sweet talk Zoltan or Larry Plummer... (though they'll probably just throw the data at me & tell me to do it myself, LOL) There's a lot of data out there by county (USDA's Econ Res Svc has all sorts of variables collected) and by MSA (including mental health, LOL)

Definitely some interesting policy implications to be dug out! Again, thanks for the tip -- and for helping Brad Feld re Startup Visa.

Cheers!

Patchwork Nation - thanks for cluing me into that... always nice to see a different way of looking at things.

A research question! How do rates of entrepreneurship vary across these 12 categories? Who has more per capita startups? Who has more gazelles? TIA!

I'd say this applies to more than business. I once had a girfriend read me the riot act for taking serious her criticism too personally. (Worse, she was right... LOL) I got the exact same "Who the hell do you think..." point.

Mark - thank you for sharing this. It's hard sometimes to separate the message from the messenger but at least we're aware of that. What can be very hard in life is to separate the message from the recipient... we take what could be very useful info & make the wrong attribution. Somehow "you gave a boring talk" (and here's why & how to fix it) morphs into "I'm a boring speaker".

A question, if I might -- when did you come to this realization? Was there a particular situation where this crystallized in your mind? Your "aha" moment?
