Whatever you think of Newt he is doing the cause a huge favor by bringing out the attacks on Romney's wealth and Bain Capital now when we can see how they play with the voters. I was a CPA for 25 years. A lot of business owners really loath operations like Bain. They acknowledge that the economy needs them but they don't like the practices they use or the glee some operators seem to take in the destructive part of creative destruction. They certainly don't credit the partners at the private equity firms with the success of the operating business the spawned five and ten years after the cash out. Those jobs were created by the managers who actually ran the businesses. Herman Cain turned a business around. Mitt Romney ran a financial chop shop. Main Street knows the difference.

Attacking Republicans is Mitt's stock in trade. That's why Fred Thompson endorsed Newt.

The democrats in Congress did to him what they did to Palin. They filed n baseless ethics charge every time he took a breath. It was coasting Congress a huge amount of time and Newt a fortune in legal fees. After four years his supporterswere exhausted by the constant fight and the Republicans who wanted to spend as much money on pork as the Democrats had done saw their opportunity. Consider who replaced him. Hastert was a product of the deeply corrupt Republican party of Illinois.

Newt paid the fine to make it go away. Businesses do that all the time. He resigned because it would have been awkward for Hastert to have a former Speaker in the caucus. That is the proper thing to do which is why Trent Lott stayed on when he got kicked out of Senate leadership.

The IRS cleared Newt on the one charge that had substance.

If we let the far left drive out everyone who is a threat with baseless charges we are cowardly fools.

Hoffman lost after Scozzafava threw her support to the Democrat and Hoffman embarrassed himself before the local newpaper endorsement panels when he couldn't answer questions about local economic issues. Newt knows a Scozzafava who votes with the party 70% of the time is better than a so called moderate Democrat who crosses party lines 7% of the time.

Mitt's father was the CEO of American Motors when it manufactured the third best selling car in the country. We wrnt on to be the Governor of Michigan. I wouldn't call that self made.

When the house next door is on fire I drop everything to go help put it out. I find the idea of leasing a neighbor your extra hose under such circumstances while you then sit on the sidelines and continue to proclaim your neutrality morally repugnant. The fact is Roosevelt didn't even attempt to make the case that joining the war effort as anything other than an arm's merchant was in America's best interest.

If Republicans needed to be convinced that joining the allies in Europe was in America's best interests, the far left wing of the Democrat party was implacable in their soi disant pacifism. They remained that way until the day until Hitler invaded the Soviet Union. Then American interests and American military readiness be damned, the American left wanted to jump into the war with both feet.

The world's most powerful battleship was done in by a painfully slow obsolete biplane with fabric wings whose torpedo disabled Bismark's steering. Unfortunately it took Peal Harbor followed by the sinking of the HMS Prince of Wales a few days later for the experts to see how vulnerable battleships were to air attack and that future fleet actions would be between aircraft carrier groups.

In an application of the biblical admonition that the race is not always to the swift nor the battle to the strong, the Swordfish was in service until the very end of the war. It was flown off the decks of escort carriers and specially equipped merchant ships carrying depth charges for anti submarine work. Its take off speed was so low the platform didn't even have to be steaming into the wind. That made the Swordfish particularly well suited for North Atlantic convoy duty.

She had a rare combination on screen. Men found her terribly attractive and instinctively wanted to protect her but women were never threatened by her. They wanted to be her.

At his best Wayne used his eyes and his body to express not a stolid man but one who was deeply uncomfortable letting others see what he was feeling. The difference was often unappreciated. It is a trait that is mostly highly valued in cultures that honor duty over self expression, which is perhaps why Wayne often seemed most at home playing a military man or sheriff.

Note the involvement of the Humane Society of the United States in increasing the funding for the enforcement of the 1966 act. Once concerned with animal welfare this organization has morphed over time into activism for animal rights. Animals used for human entertainment such as in circuses, rodeos and road side petting zoos have long been a target of their ire. On an increasing basis practices in animal husbandry that have helped keep meat and dairy products affordable have also come into the HSUS cross hairs.

Many people who see the HSUS ads featuring an abused cat, stray dog or abandoned puppies think they are supporting no kill shelters. They have no idea their money will actually be spent on lobbying for ever more government regulation of daily life.
