This is a really good post. Not only is it interesting in it's own right, but I feel I must offer my congratulations to the Heresiarch for writing an article critical of Clarke's ignorance of the law, rather than one in reply to the screeching hysteria of the Gruaniad types, which I'm sure he was tempted to do...

No, you've misunderstood me, (but it's probably my fault, to be fair...)

My point was not that I disagree with Laurie because she's young, but that maybe she should be offered a degree of clemency because of it. (indeed, as you say, there's 'no need to be nasty.')

The tone of my comment was supposed to be one of gentle irony- I thought a huge under-estimation of Laurie's age gave the game away here... But you, unlike others, seem to have taken it in earnest seriousness, in a way that might even be worthy of our Laurie herself...

As for nastiness, I think that heavy sarcasm and calling someone pathetic probably counts as that, no?
