Moderate Muslim tries to do moderate stuff:

"A model bidding to become the first Muslim to represent the UK in the world final of Miss Universe has been defending her decision to enter. Shanna Bukhari, who is 24 and lives in Manchester, said she's been sent racist and abusive messages since making it to the beauty contest's UK final."

Racist and abusive messages? Those hateful, islamophobic skinheads!

Oh, wait...

"Muslim groups have accused her of disrespecting Islam. ... 'You're not a Muslim because you're doing this' ... Muslims are angry ... Mohammed Shafiq is from the Ramadhan Foundation, a group that works with young Muslims in the UK. He's against Shanna taking part."

Oh, well in that case then, it's probably just an isolated incident. You know, lone extremists and all that.

"Other young Muslims have told Newsbeat that being allowed to live a Western lifestyle in the UK is a big issue. Rayan Jawad, 27, said: 'This is a discussion that goes on all the time.'"

Oh ... um .... nothing to see here, folks. Move along, move along ....

"you will come back at them with a quick little wisecrack"

Pretty rich for a guy whose response to my simple questions is "show us your tits!"

By the way, do you ask men to see their genitalia, or do you reserve that kind of treatment for women?

The hilarious part is that you probably think you are a feminist and a liberal.

Also tragi-hilariously, one of the very few Muslims who denounces terrorism is Tarek Fatah, whom the commenters on this thread have wasted no time in trashing and demonizing. No wonder other Muslims don't speak up. With "allies" like you, they certainly don't need more enemies.

If you don't think denouncement matters, why are you commenting here and denouncing me?

"In the end, Don Guju may have had the only rational answer for you. [i.e., Show us your tits!]"

Wow. And I gather you are what passes for an intellectual nowadays.

I simply asked who were the "more than enough Muslims" who did the denouncing of killings, and when they denounced it. No one answered.

Is it too simple a question?

"More than enough Muslims have denounced the killings being done in the name of Islam"

Really? Who? When?

"More than enough" for whom? Not more than enough to stop the continued killings, certainly. So it is "enough" for you even if the killings continue, apparently.

Ha ha!

Another articulate spokesman for multiculturalism.

"While an honest discussion – free of prejudice – is welcome"

I didn't know it was up to you to determine which discussion is welcome and which is not. How did you get this power? I didn't vote for you.

"The common refrain that we hear is that Muslims are all the same"

Common refrain? Really? Who said it? I haven't heard it.

On the contrary, no matter how many Muslims kill while yelling "Allahu akbar!", we are constantly told that they are atypical, and they don't represent the "religion of peace".

But fortunately, Danyaal Raza and Rahim Manji are on the case.

On the case? Are they denouncing violent Muslims?

No, silly! They are denouncing non-Muslims for noticing violent Muslims.

Of course, arguments like Raza's and Manji's have a lot more resonance if you don’t actually know any critics of Muslims personally.

People like Raza and Manji are essentially asking us to dehumanize any critic of Islam.

All worthy suggestions, but ... the real elephant in the room here is Islam. The crowds in the streets are mainly aggressive young men. There are chanting "Allahu akbar!" They are NOT the foundation of freedom, liberty, republican virtue or anything else we Westerners like. They ARE, however, a foundation for Sharia, violence, repression, vendettas, revenge and tyranny. Expect to see even more of that in the future.

The only relevant yardstick for any action here is, will it weaken Islam and strengthen secular liberalism? Right now Islam is stronger by approximately ten to one.

Those are the odds. This is the task. Good luck.

Klavan is more than that. He is a hero.
