As long as civil unions carries with it the same rights, then what's the difference? If there is a difference and civil unions are set up to deny rights, then there's a problem ...

Agreed. Propositions are a crock. We were never supposed to have a direct democracy. The Framers could have made this a direct democracy but they knew that political system creates multiple problems.

But .... some people want a direct democracy anyway. It's a mess AND a crock.

Very good question ... I will tell my kids that this is a Republic and not a direct democracy. Private citizens in our Republic are not supposed to make laws. Us private citizens do not always know when sometimes what we want is against the law. This is why we vote for lawmakers. Our lawmakers then are supposed to make the law.

Tell them that Propositions are a crock.

You know how it is ... Conservatives want to know and want to approve of what goes on in people's bedrooms. They care about other people's personal lives and if they do not have a good idea of what's going on in those bedrooms, or do not approve, they will hire someone like Ken Starr to dig up the details and uncover all of the stained blue dresses.

I don't see much use in it. Some Cons get board I guess. Some other Cons I truly believe really get off on that kinda stuff.

I'm not sure what the Black Conservatives said here ... Did they say that the Tea Party should have simply 'refudiated' the racism allegation. Or did yet another Conservative group avoid the issue of Tea Party racism and issue more guilt-filled attacks on the NAACP?

And does this mean the "colorblind society" promoted by Black Conservatives, takes a seat beside WMDs in Iraq as just another Conservative fabrication?

I'm old fashion and remember when disrespect for your superiors was met with swift punishment ..... especially in the military.

Funny how conservatives these days are soft on discipline and us Liberals hold the torch for what's left of respect, common courtesy, and discipline in this great country.

Well, my latest trip abroad was 2 weeks ago, and I have to say, he is still loved abroad.

One thing those abroad always like about us is our liberalism not our conservatism. They like the fact that we really know how to "change" (they link change to freedom) and are not stuck on the status quo.

Another thing ...professional armies must show deference and respect to civilian commanders.... even if the name of the civilian leader is Faulteroy. What it sounds like conservatives want is the US military to be unprofessional ... more like Columbia's.

I can still remember a time when disrespect of your superiors was always met with swift punishment. Now we make excuses for those who do not listen to their superiors.

Sorry state we're in ... I hope it's just Conservatives that excuse bad behavior and not all of America.
