Clearly you do not understand how funding for the medical field works, my friend. Sure, private funding is available in other sectors, but regulation within the medical field makes the amount of capital required simply astronomical. Take a look at pharmaceuticals: do you know how much it costs to research a drug? About $1 billion. That's billion with a "b". How many venture capital firms are willing to risk that on a new biotech product?

Simply put, the cost of doing business within the medical field often prevents private funding. That is why government funding (at least in the med. field) is required, and should be much higher than it currently is. As far as climate research or habitat protection, screw them all...

Most of the stuff you say on here is quite stupid, comrade, but this one I have to agree with you. Even if one believes in God (which I do), I happen to be one of those rational Catholics and there is nothing that prevents me from accepting evolution as the method through which He brought about the diversity of living creatures.

Where are you getting the $2.5T number? I'm looking around and the numbers seem to be around $685B...You may be right, I just want to find out what you're citing to get that figure.

Likewise, where are you finding a domestic spending number that is as low as $1T? Please point to some site so we can validate such a claim.
