This is a gutless, political government move. The problem is kids who eat too much of the wrong things and don't get enough exercise. What do you do? Demonize a corporation of course. The kids will still eat the wrong thing but government can claim action and people will feel better. Since government is saying it knows best, why not go right into the home and deal with the problem first hand? Oh but that would not be politically correct, and for good reason. Ergo, maybe the whole government interference bit is wrong.
We spend enormous amounts educational time teaching our kids to save the world but we can't even teach them to save themselves. Hmmmm.
It is all about everyone telling everyone else what to do in a politically safe manner and never dealing with personal responsibility.
Is that weight before or after they have had their fill of blood?
Not to let the Chinese off the hook but go after the importers, the ones who brought the garbage across the dock. They are the ones who profited the most from the deal. They bought cheap and sold high, claiming shortage.
It was the greedy middlemen, including companies like Walmart, that made China what it is today.
You will find that a great many progressive businesses are not run by hard core liberals but by intelligent business people who know good ideas and savy marketing when they see it. The unfortunate side is that they must keep their views to themselves because it means death to their business. Even run-of-the-mill businesspeople are often afraid to voice their opinions on local issues because the liberals will crucify them.
Just imagine the carbon footprint of her lifestyle. Then again, I'm sure Al Gore has given her a special pass on that.
China has stated that they only pollute to serve the our excessive consumerism, so it is our own problem. We should take them up on the idea, especially since their pollution per unit of production is higher than production here. The easy fix - set a carbon tax on their imports at 100%. The result? Less pollution, less consumerism, better opportunities for our own manufacturing. They'll run crying to the WTO but let them because, as Al Gore knows, the fate of the world is in the balance.
